Hi

I do all those searches in iTunes. My main playlist is a "smart" search that
searches for
tracks played less than 2 times and genre does not contain "Christmas". Then I
have sub
playlists that are rock or jazz etc.

On top of that, I have playlists for my iPod that are limited to 20 GB.

I can send screenshots if that helps.
