Chief Architect Better
Homes and Gardens Home Designer Suite 6.0
by Rich Byrne
Rich Byrne will demonstrate Chief Architect Better Homes
and Gardens Home Designer Suite 6.0
This is a nearly complete home architectural design
program that allows you to design and build a home on "paper" and view
your results from many angles both inside and out. The main benefit is
that you can make many changes in your plan without paying a
professional to change the original plans and re-draw the design.
Rich is designing a Lake front home for a site in Vermont that has
several design restrictions due to lot size and Zoning requirements. He
has gone through at least 10 substantial design changes and has 4
alternative plans that result from negotiations with the Zoning Board
and consultation with family and friends. This number of changes would
have been impossible to handle with an architect doing all of the
design and drawing. Then depending on the skill level of your builder
you can opt for final drawings and specs from an architect.
Rich suggests that The Better Homes and Gardens version of Chief
Architect gives the individual home designer the kind of flexibility
that Turbo Tax gives the individual taxpayer.
This year is also the 25th anniversary of the NJCC. Rich will lead a
discussion of the origins of the NJCC and will add to the recollections
of some of the early members of the club.
