Microsoft Windows Vista

Doug Beck, Webmaster of the NJCC, will demonstrate Windows Vista, explaining some the key differences that the newer OS has with XP. For the presentation, Doug will access his personal computer (running Windows XP) using a  Remote Desktop Connection from his work PC (running Windows Vista) and point out some key differences with OSes actually running, one within another.

Doug will specifically point out some of the security "upgrades", including the constant notifications that Windows Vista provides. Also, Doug will show and explain some of the most common UI differences, including the "streamlined" start menu, the modified Windows Explorer, and some other improvements. Since it is important for the club to be aware of the difference in versions of Windows Vista, Doug will be sure to show the table of features for the different versions using Microsoft's website.

Since he will be connected to his home PC with Remote Desktop, Doug can also provide a brief overview of Remote Desktop, if the members present are interested.

Doug graduated from Rider University at the Magna Cum Laude level with a double major in Computer Information Systems and Entrepreneurial Studies.

If you wish, bring your laptop, sign on to the wireless internet access network and join Doug in reviewing Vista's features.
