Meeting Agenda: Matt O'Dell of FileMaker, Inc: The Power of Automation - Exploring Script Sequences in FileMaker Server 10

Matt will be covering different ways of using the new FileMaker Server 10 feature of Script Sequences. This feature allows developers to schedule command line scripts in tandem with FileMaker scripts. The presentation will includes examples of setting up data files for a server import, managing performance monitoring within FileMaker, swapping a hosted file with a clone file, and more.

About the Speaker:

Matt O'Dell is a Systems Engineer with FileMaker in the Northeast. He has 10+ years experience using FileMaker and building web solutions. Along with being a certified FileMaker Developer, he also is an authorized FTS trainer and a certified MySQL 5.0 developer. Prior to working for FileMaker, Matt was an application developer, trainer, tech support with Soliant Consulting in Chicago.

And someone else made reference to a "bug" where Site Assistant doesn't work unless the Guest Account is enabled (didn't mention whether you have to *use* it, just that it has to be enabled.

Hi Peter,
in the organization I am working as FM developer we had that problem with
printing pages taking a long time between pages, or even with printing one page.
But, we had that issue with FM 9, so the reason and the solution might not be
the same for you, since you are using FM 10 and OS 10.5 (ours were at that time,
FM 9 and OS 10.4).
Reason was the font used in the db: Helvetica, which is usually a default font
was causing the slow down, which was even reported on the web among the FM users
and acknowledged by FileMaker Inc.
Solution in our case was: change the print layout to have no Helvetica at all.
Use, Arial or Tahoma. They never failed on us.
It won't cost you much (except for some time), but it might fix the issue you
have.
In our case too, not all computers were affected, just some, like in yours.

Does the problem occur if the user prints to PDF?

I'm inclined to think it's a missing font or three. It could be a missing screen
or printer font file or a font conflict.

Are the other Macs in the group also running Leopard?
