What about having the meeting somewhere in New Brunswick. New Brunswick
has a major train station so it would be a great stop for people like
Frank that work in NYC.
Also, New Brunswick is very close to major roads like Rt.1, Rt. 27, Rt.
18, Rt. 287, New Jersey Turnpike and it's also not that far from the
Parkway.

This is Chris Calabrese here in SeasideHeights. I’m sorry, but I can’t
make the first meeting because I teach the piano in the evenings and it would
take me 2 hours to get to the meeting. Perhaps, if you have a meeting later on
somewhere in South Jersey I would attend.
Take care,

Podcasters First Meeting Poll Results
Hi Folks,
So, the poll has closed and it looks like we have
a date, time, and general location for the first meeting:
Wednesday, June 22, 2005 7PM Somewhere in Central New
Jersey
If anyone knows of a place where about 30 or so
people can meet (i.e., Barnes & Noble, Borders, cafe, restaurant, KOC
hall, whatever) somewhere around the Morristown/Bedminster areas,
please post your suggestions and the location's contact information
to the group as soon as possible. If it's a nice evening, we might
even be able to meet outside at a park! Post your thoughts about
that here.
I work in Manhattan so meeting during the week is gonna be tough for
me. I usually don't even get home from work till 7-8 PM. And from
Nutley where I live to a meeting place in Central Jersey would easily
be another hour. I had hoped for a weekend meeting. I'd have to leave
work really early, which may or may not be possible. But I'll try.

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
njpodcasters group:
Do you plan on attending the first NJ Podcasters Association
on Wednesday, June 22 at 7PM (definite location TBD)?
o Yes
o No
To vote, please visit the following web page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/njpodcasters/surveys?id=1703830
Note: Please do not reply to this message. Poll votes are
not collected via email. To vote, you must go to the Yahoo! Groups
web site listed above.
Thanks!
If there were less than 30 people I might suggest Buzzy's Tavern &
Restaraunt in Piscataway, not too far off I-287. Great food and free
wi-fi access! While their dining room is certainly big enough to hold
30 + people, I don't know if they would consider closing it just for
our use.

My company's facility in Lawrenceville (Mercer County)
may be available for that evening. I am checking into
it now. If it's available, there would be plenty of
space for an indoor meeting, and we also have a patio
area outside that we could use if the weather
cooperates. I noticed that Mercer County may be a
less desirable location, but in case it's needed, I'm
checking into the option now. We are near the
intersection of Rt 1 and 95 in Lawrenceville.

Gotcha. Problem with NJ is even though mileage wise things are close together -
traffic keeps things far apart time wise.
Ah well....

I'm in the beginning stages of my proposal, but has anyone seen (or
had any personal experience with) producing and entire podcast for
hire? I *may* have the opportunity to produce a 1x week/30 minute
podcast for a local NJ promotions company and was looking for pricing
suggestions. My husband already has a few dozen clients websites
hosted himself (it's what he does for a living) and I was hoping to
tie in his servers/bandwidth as part of my package (he'll provide that
pricing).
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!!
Well, Mercer County is pretty far south for me (I AM the one pretty
much organizing this). I live in Bergen County and work in Bedminster.
I would like to meet somewhere that is accessible from a major highway
like 287, 80, 78, The Parkway, or the turnpike.

Hi Folks,
So, the poll has closed and it looks like we have a date, time, and
general location for the first meeting:
Wednesday, June 22, 2005
7PM
Somewhere in Central New Jersey
If anyone knows of a place where about 30 or so people can meet (i.e.,
Barnes & Noble, Borders, cafe, restaurant, KOC hall, whatever)
somewhere around the Morristown/Bedminster areas, please post your
suggestions and the location's contact information to the group as
soon as possible. If it's a nice evening, we might even be able to
meet outside at a park! Post your thoughts about that here.
Thanks for your participation.

4.9 as part of his WWDC2005 Keynote (the podcasting part starts about
6 minutes in):

It looks like podcasting is incorporated quite well into the
interface. This could massively increase the podcasting audience!

Once that's all figured out, the moderators here will start calling
around and finding a place for us to meet. We have nearly 30 members
now, so this could be interesting. We'll announce the time and place
within the next few days, hopefully.
After what the poll helps to decide what area of Jersey the meeting will be held
in, how are
you going to determine where the meeting will be held? in a conferance room or
restaurant ? And how many day will we have before the meeting, I mean when will
the
meeting place be offically announced ?

Hi everyone,
My name is Harold Gilchrist and I'm achitecting and building a new
resource strictly for New Jersey podcast listeners named NJPodcasts.
Even though I haven't officially launced the site, I currently have
the weblog started and active at www.njpodcasts.com
I would invite everyone to stop by the site to check out what I have
there so far.
If you have a podcast or podcast service or product produced in New
Jersey or if your podcast pertains to something
in or about New Jersey and you would like it added to NJ Podcasts in
some way email me @ njpodcasts@...
Also, if I have already added your site/service to NJ Podcasts and
you would like it removed for any reason please let me know @
njpodcasts@...
.. and lastly. Starting this week I'll be producing a podcast
(starting off with weekly episodes) for the site named "NJPodcasts
Radio".
In the coming weeks I'll be discussing ideas and suggestions for this
regional podcasting resource with others on the podcast. Let me know
if you would like to be a guest on one of the shows (via Skype or
phone)in the
coming weeks by emailing me @ njpodcasts@....
See everyone at the meetup,
Harold Gilchrist

Dan,
Just saw your site.
There is one problem with the link.
Drop the "." after the word "podcast"
My son will be going to college this September. I'll
show him this site tonight.

Hello,
I operate a music promotion service called IndiePodcasting.com. We
promote indie musicians to podcasters, webcasters, broadcasters,
music journalists, etc. We would like to offer our current roster of
independent artists for your review. All artists have been pre-
screened and are top notch artists in rock, pop, alternative, hip-
hop, and R&B. Since we currently have a roster of over 145 artists,
we use "abbreviated podcasting" to help get two minute samples of the
artists to stations for quick review (No DJ talk, just 2 min song
samples in separate mp3's).
To hear two minute versions of all the available artists, you can
pick up our podcasts at www.indiepodcasting.com or listen to
streaming two minute samples in the artist directory of the site at
www.indiepodcasting.com/artists.asp. If you use a podcast receiver
or RSS reader, the rock/pop/alternative feed is found at
www.indiepodcasting.com/podcasts.xml and the urban genres feed is
www.indiepodcasting.com/urbanpodcasts.xml.
If you like what you hear and would like to hear more from an artist,
just follow the links from the artist page on our website to their
website, where you'll find their contact information to contact them
directly. We do not support "creative commons" licensing. To
understand why, visit www.indiepodcasting.com/inquiries.htm.

Yeah, it was average. But I was in it, so that makes it MUCH better! ;-)

Here's the list of NJ podcasts from the May 15, 2005 issue of the Star
Ledger:
----------
There's always a Jersey connection ...
You can find podcasts from the Vatican to Venice Beach, but variety
lurks in your own digital backyard. (Either go to the Web site listed
below or type the name of the podcast into a search engine.)
-- "Coffee to Go" (unreleased Jersey hip-hop), "Thomas Edison's Attic"
(early recordings) and "Communication Breakdown" (Hoboken ruminations)
from WFMU.org.
-- "The Brian Lehrer Show" (metro area topics), other public radio
fare and podcasts from the BBC and CBC are at WNYC.org.
-- Audible.com: The Wayne company charges for NPR's "Car Talk" and
thousands of other offerings, but freebies have included "American
Idol" updates, papal sermons and this month's evolution debates from
Kansas.
-- Hometown Tales: Ghosts, trolls and Jesus apparitions, brought to
you by two pals in a Somerset County living room. "We'd been talking
about doing a radio show forever," Gene Fitzpatrick says. "But we
couldn't get a station to give it to us, so we just said let's do it
ourselves."
-- Bibb and Yaz Take Over the World! A Nutley carpenter and a
part-time hockey referee from Belleville disparage the world; salty
and sometimes offensive. Example: A Hitler speech passed off as the
new Pope.
-- Esc From the World! Camden County's Matt Bischoff, 14, reviews the
tech scene -- when he's not helping a Las Vegas company create a
podcasting network.
-- The Overnightscape: Nutley's Frank Edward Nora filibusters like a
senator.
-- The Martini Shot: New Milford's Chris Cavallari talks about making
movies. "You've got to pump yourself up and put yourself out there,"
he says of podcasting. "If you have a good enough message, people will
find you."

Hi everyone,
Thanks for joining the New Jersey Podcasters Association!
I'm Chris, host of The Martini Shot Indie Filmmaking Podcast, and
pretty much co-group leader (along with Gene Fitzpatrick from Hometwon
Tales).
So, I guess everyone's wondering what's up with the group. First,
we're working on setting a date for the first meeting. I will be
working on setting up a poll on the site with several dates, times,
and places for the first meeting in June. I'll probably keep it up for
the next week and a half or so, and announce the winning date then.
The first meeting will pretty much be just an introduction to
everyone. Nothing formal, just a way for us to get to know each other.
We'll talk about whatever comes up, and leave whenever we want. No big
deal. The idea is to keep this informal for a bit until we get more
interest, then move into more formal meetings.
So, thanks to everyone who has joined, and I look forward to meeting
you all.
Sincerely,
Chris Cavallari
