I think that even if you disable Ad-Aware and go through the settings
in TrendMicro you will still experience a significant performance
hit. On the one hand, that is the cost for adequate security. But on
the other, you need to maintain a level of productivity. If tech
support can't help you try something else. I've installed Kapersky on
a couple of machines and haven't heard anything negative from the
users.

Maybe somebody else has some more input for you.
