Dear Norman,
Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.
I understand from your email that the PC reports the error code 999, while using the yahoo mail
Norman, the issue could be to some sort of bandwidth limiting system that Yahoo has put in place on their servers. Once you have exceeded your allotted bandwidth for a specific period of time Yahoo gives you this Error 999 message and doesn't allow you to access the service.
However, to resolve the issue, I recommend you perform the steps as mentioned below:
===Step 1: Delete all temporary files stored on your computer====
Temporary files are created in C:\Windows\Temp directory and are
deleted when the program is closed.. To delete these files regularly,
follow these steps:
1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
2. Double-click the icon for the C: drive.
3. Double-click the Windows folder.
4. Double-click the Temp folder.
5. On the menu bar, click Edit and then click Select All. All files
in this folder will be highlighted.
6. Ensure that you are in the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
7. Press the Delete key on the keyboard.
8. Answer Yes to any prompts on deleting the files.
NOTE: If you receive a message stating that a particular file
cannot be deleted, continue deleting the remaining files
until you have deleted as many files as possible.
To delete temporary files from the Temporary Internet files folder using
Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Open an Internet Explorer browser, click Tools on the menu bar
and then select Internet Options.
2. From the General tab, click the Delete Files button under
Temporary Internet files.
3. Select the Delete All Offline Content option and click OK.
4. Click the Clear History button and then click Yes.
5. Click OK to exit the Internet Options window.
The temporary files from the Temporary Internet files folder should be
deleted.
===Step 2: Delete Cookies===
1. Click Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, and
then Internet Options.
2. Click the General tab, and click Delete Cookies. A window appears
stating:
"Delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files folder?"
3. Click OK.
4. On the General tab, click Delete Files, select Delete all offline
content, and click OK.
5. Click the Advanced tab. Remove the checkmark from Enable
third-party browser extensions (requires restart).
6. Click OK, and click OK again to restart the computer.
===Step 3: Clear History in the Internet Explorer==
1. Close all running instances of Internet Explorer and all browser windows.
2. In Control Panel, click Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab, and then click Clear History.
4. Click Yes, and then click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
If the issue persists, I recommend you use different browser and check for the issue.
I request you download and install the new Firefox directly from its vendor [Mozilla]. Please visit the below web link to download the Firefox:

I keep getting Error Code 999 on Yahoo's Classic Mail.Microsoft syas it is A Bandwith problem and Yahoo says it is A Server on their part and none of my friends that have Yahoo Mail claim that they don't have this problem. I have been getting it only A few Minutes into Classic Mail andhave to click < back button and then go to New Mail which I am on now and don't like it. I can't even resize my printouts with New Mail. The Print Preview and the Landscape mode when I click cancel on the Print Box the image goes away and on Classic Mail I click cancl and then proceed to resize my Printing. Also it is slower and don't have the Photos in the bottom left to choose my Pictures for background/wallpaper. and the New Mail has to go to Attachment View to see and still gets the "OOP's" whileloading.. Can you tell me how to use Classic Mail without Error Code 999?? It used to come later or sometimes not at all now
it comes when I go from Sent or
Delete and also looking at my Pictures on " Photo's" file. It comes in the first 5 to 10 Minutesif not earlier. I use XP Home SP3 Norton's Internet Security and soon Nprton's 360 3.0 when it comes in the Mail.I just put IE 8 and that didn't help either..
