Announcing Agile Open Northwest 2010! This Agile Open Space event will
be
held February 9th and 10th, 2010, in the Seattle Center Northwest Rooms.
Please see http://www.agileopennorthwest.org for registration
information
and further details.

We invite you to our fourth annual Agile Open Northwest conference.
Alternating each year between Portland and Seattle, AONW conferences
bring
together practicing members of the Northwest Agile communities to
explore
the latest developments in agile software development. We held our third
annual event last year in Portland and enjoyed another great success.
Registration is $125.00 for both days, including light breakfast and
lunch.
This low-cost regional conference is a great opportunity to connect
with the
local agile community, experts and novices alike.

Please join us this year as we host 125 experienced, collaborative,
committed agile practitioners from the Northwest U.S. (and beyond) in
tackling the issues around our recurring theme "Agile for Real." As in
past
years, attendance is limited to a predetermined number in order retain
the
many advantages a small conference has to offer.

Here is a comment from a previous attendee:

"These two-day Agile Open Northwest conferences are an extremely good
value.
..[Y]ou learn directly from practitioners in the agile community what
works
and what doesn't. I attended the first two of these conferences, they
were
stunningly good... loads of practical, useful stuff and stimulating
discussions." -- Ian Savage, PNSQC Program Chair

More information can be found at http://www.agileopennorthwest.org.
Registration is open now. We look
forward to seeing you there!

Hi David,

Apropos our conversation last week, if you could post this in appropriate
fora that you have access to, that would be greatly appreciated.

"Like-minded experienced iPhone Developer needed immediately to help
finish final development of innovative green-space app approaching
public beta. We're looking for someone who has (1) significant iPhone
development experience, (2) familiarity with the iPhone development
platform (XCode on Mac OS/X), (3) an interest in profit sharing, and
      (4) someone who can start ASAP and who has significant time
availability. We're unlikely to have cash to pay anyone until
January/February of 2010, but anyone who is (a) drawn to our corporate
      principles at http://www.kismetworldwide.com/principles.html, and (b)
wants to throw down and kick in their iPhone development skills to
work with some great people to get a great app done, should contact
Lie at lie@.... Thanks for your interest."

Thanks for your help, David. We'll get back to the Agile Philanthropy
possibilities once the app is actually launched; in the meantime, Lie Njie
(Craig is his other
not-given-by-the-natives-in-Africa-when-teaching-computer-science-for-the-Peace-\
Corp
name) is absolutely buried trying to finish this thing and get it out the
door.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks again!

Agile methods are consistently helping project communities deliver
products. But are they building the right products? In some cases yes, but
in other cases the rush to get to iteration 1 inhibits the discovery of who
will use or buy a product and why? This session will discuss a short list
of tools which I am using the help project communities discover the deeper
value of what they are delivering and learn something about their users and
buyers in the process. Please arrive ready to participate, question and
learn.

David Hussman is a principal consultant of Devjam Agile Collaborators based
in Minneapolis, MN. He coaches and partners with development groups for
agile adoptions and training to help companies improve, innovate and
improvise around the world. David was one of this years winners of the
Gordon Pask Award Winners 2009

Joe Rainsberger captured the essence of David Hussman’s work by saying
“David is not just someone who builds agile communities, but someone who is
building community builders”. David’s coaching is centered on getting to
know communities and their members so he can help foster real value using a
meaningful collection of agile methods which amplify existing strengths and
confront existing challenges.

For each engagement, David works hard to grow internal coaching and
coaches. He is genuinely inquisitive and insightful about people. His
coaching style is non-dogmatic, well-grounded, challenging and pragmatic.
Focusing on getting to know project communities helps David seed
self-discovery and avoid falling into the expert trap of telling people
what they “should do”.

David’s coaching includes introducing agile methods to large international
project communities as well as working side by side with members of small
collocated teams, helping them to tune and improve their agility. Along
with his coaching, David has helped create or produce a variety of agile
gatherings including Agile Egypt, Practical Agility, CodeFreeze and Agile
Palooza to name a few. In his home town of Minneapolis / St Paul, David
leads several local groups like Practical Agility and the Twin Cities
chapter of Agile Philanthropy.
