Hello,
Comet 17P/ Holmes remains bright and the apparant size of the coma
is getting bigger each night. No one agrees what has happened to the
comet to cause it to brighten 700,000 times from its original
brightness of 17th mag a few days ago to its present brightness of
mag 2.5.However most agree that something cataclysmic has happened to
the comet to make this happen. Here is a link to what will probably
be one of the most famous light curves of a comet in all history
showing what has many astronomers most excited world wide.
