Comet Holmes and Mars   Message List

Hello,
Comet Holmes continues to be a naked eye object near Algol in the
constellation Perseus and keeps expanding linearly as it has since its
outburst in late Ocotber. More information on this expansion can be
found here- http://www.aerith.net/comet/catalog/0017P/2007.html
I will post some of my latest images of this comet in our photos
section in the comet album.
Mars continues to brighten as it rises high in the east after sunset
and becomes larger and some detail can now be seen on a clear night
with excellent seeing using high power.
Last week I observed a fuel dump from the upper stage of a Centaur
rocket that was launched up the eastern seaboard from the Cape. The
fuel took on the appearance of a bright, large, fan shaped comet and
was brighter than first magnitude in Casseopeia before fading out of
sight.
