Description

GO Tech (formerly NotBAGO) is a meeting for Ann Arbor (MI) area readers of Make Magazine, Circuit Cellar, Home Shop Machinist, Kevin Kelly's Cool Tools, slashdot, etc. That is, people who are interested in and make things using technology, whether that's a metal-cutting lathe or a Python script. A kind of generalized mixture of CerealBar, DorkBot, Oxford Geek night, and Portland Machinist Guild. We share projects, information about tools and ideas, and connect with like-minded people. Everyone is welcome. We've been meeting since 7/07.
After introductions, we usually have 5 minute presentations by anyone who wants to talk. Available are wi-fi, video projector (VGA/DVI/composite), Mac laptop, extension cords, and copier.
Meetings are generally the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. The next few meetings are 6/9/09, 7/14/09, 8/11/09.
Tuesday 6/9/09, 7 pm: Aluminum casting demo! Steam-powered motorcycle! MAKE Magazine publisher Dale Dougherty! Plus the regular 5-minute demos!
MEETING LOCATION AND TIME
We are now meeting at 7 pm at A2 MechShop, a shared technical office/shop space. Just around the block from our previous meeting space, it is located at 240 Parkland Plaza, 48103 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=240+parkland+plaza,+48103) on the west side of Ann Arbor, MI, off of Jackson between Zeeb and Wagner. From Jackson, turn onto Parkland Plaza. Go past Little Lake Drive, and it is the first building on the right. We are in the back half of the building--enter by the door farthest from the road.
Parking: Park in any open parking space or on Parkland Plaza, but please don't block the drive or garage doors.
The photo at the right is of a robotic hand we made at a recent meeting. When it's done, it will be gracing the store front of our local 826 store.
