While I don't use nPOPuk data files in a cross-platform way as you do,
I do use WM5torage for transfer of files between WM phone and the PC.
Been doing this for a year or so, after seeing the software mentioned
on XDA-developers forum. It's a very handy program indeed.
Since a week or more ago I've been using an HTC Touch with a custom
WM6.1 version, which includes WM5torage. But this is not necessary any
more, as when I plug the USB cable into PC and phone something else
pops up asking if I wish to connect under Activesync (not installed on
my PC as I've simply given up on that garbage), or as a storage disk,
or as a modem. Whatever my last choice was remains the default, so
there's no need even to tap the screen if I don't wish to change my
previous setting. I've not taken the time yet to poke around and
figure out which application does this, but from the look of the
interface it seems likely to be part of HTC's suite of UI
enhancements, like the fullscreen sound adjustment applet or TouchFlo.

WMStorage it is possible to plug the phone into the USB of a PC, and it works as
an external storage drive, so nPOPuk can be run from the PC without taking the
storage card out of the phone. Then when used from the phone again, all the
mail, settings and addresses are the same as when used on the PC. This saves
pulling the card out, as it does snag a little on this phone.
