RE: [nPOPuk] re: incredibly slow

This is the first message I've seen from this list since May 23. Is that
correct or has my mail been screwed up some how? (It's not a matter of it
being tossed as spam; I keep a regular eye on those for all my addresses and
there aren't any npopsupport messages there.)

Here is a page relating to settings found in the nPOPuk.ini file, should you
wish to edit behaviors there:
http://www.npopuk.org.uk/npopukini.htm

But the items relating to loading mailboxes on launch and contacts are to be
found in the Global Options tabs. For mailbox loading behavior, go to File |
Global Options | Advanced and use the menu there to select your preference.
For speed I choose 'Automatically as needed' - if 'All at startup' is set in
yours now this would explain something about slow loading time.

For contacts loading you need first decide what behavior works best for your
use. In my experience, loading the Contacts database on my WM phone is the
single biggest difficulty relating to startup delay, taking well over 10
seconds to scan for and load a few hundred email addresses from my 800+
contacts. If you wish to change this, loading nPOPuk without loading freshly
scanned contacts, then you will need to manually edit the nPOPuk.ini file in
your text editor of preference.
Search for the line there called LoadPOOMAtStart= and change the value to
LoadPOOMAtStart=0 - this will load the previously created Address.lst file
at startup, rather than creating a brand new one on every launch. When you
need to update your address list, you will need to open Address book from
the File menu within nPOPuk while running and then select Get Contacts and
wait for that to load, then OK.

If you do not have Use Pocket Contacts address book selected under File |
Global Options | Other, then this does not apply, as you will be using a
manually created list of email addresses.

There are other user defined options which may affect memory use and loading
speed. You should examine the commented INI from the support site to see
which of these might apply to your particular use for the program.

Wasn't like this before. What can be done to improve this.
