Re: Palm Pre reviews

Bruce,
Long time, we need to get together again. On to your question, use this link
(http://howto.wikia.com/wiki/Howto_replace_microdrive_with_compactflash_in_LifeD\
rive
)to see what you have to do to replace the MicroHD with a CF card. It's
really not as complicated as it looks, especially if you purchase a pre-loaded
CF card, then you don't have to do the imaging that they show in the
instructions. I purchased my CF card from UsedPDAParts.com (here's the link for
the LifeDrive-http://usedpdaparts.com/Lifedrive.html). It costs $80 but it's
well worth it. Basically you crack the LifeDrive open, follow the instructions
to remove the MicroHD and then replace it with the CF card. Obviously, do a
complete backup prior to the surgery. There are still some lag issues but
nothing like what it used to be. I'm still working with different cache
programs to see if I can improve that though. I had researched this before, but
after I gave up on the LifeDrive I didn't keep it and now have to start all
over. Oh well, it gets me back into the Palm again. I'm back! Let me know if
you have any questions, I'll be glad to help anyway I can.

Randy

if the Pre can save Palm, but I think it's too little, too late. As I posted,
I've gone back to my LifeDrive and think that's the route I'm going to go. I
really wish that Apple would improve their PIM, it they would do that it would
be the killer device we've all wanted, but alas I don't think Apple really cares
considering the success of the iPhone. Maybe this move will make Palm
attractive to Apple and they could implement and improve their device, but they
probably think it's already the greatest thing out there.
