Hello,

I saw you guys are the maintainers for the ffmpeg package on the OptWare repo,
would you mind updating it so that it has support for libfaac?

Thanks,

I've found my mistake.
The output of my perl script was not formatted in ASCII.
Sorry

Hi eno, Reedy, ka6sox & other Optware-ish folks...

I've had numerous requests for updates to Netatalk, to provide compat w/ Lion
10.7.

This may require an update of BDB libd ... could you also enable compat185 on
libdb?

I've had a few more requests... specifically that it be built w/ TimeMachine

I was attempting to compile and install a program, it uses gcc
I put the source in a subdirectory of /tmp.
Well I had some errors being generated by the compiler, possibly
because the ARM processor.
The real problem is I did and apt-get update && apt-get upgrade.
Ok so far, it told me that all was up to date.
I then rebooted and lost everything. the /tmp directory
was empty after reboot.
So I guess the question I have is should just rebooting discard
all information in the /tmp directory?
Additional question, is there an architecture switch for the ARM processor
that needs to be set in gcc?

Thanks for any light you might be able to shine on my problems.

There are two questions here.
1. No, it is perfectly normal for files in /tmp to be deleted automatically,
since /tmp is the 'temp' folder, and non-persistence is pretty much standard
across all flavours of linux. However you didn't actually say what flavour of
linux you are using. I'm guessing Debian? Generally, user files should be kept
in /home or /usr/src
2. If you could post details of the application and/or the compilations errors,
maybe someone could help you with your compilation question too.

If you want temporary files to be preserved between reboots, use /var/tmp instead of /tmp.

(See  the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard for more information on Linux directories and their typical usage.  Note, however, that your distribution may vary.)

use different path for tar. I'm not sure how you can force cpan to use

Fajar -

Thanks for the reply.

I changed the CPAN path from /opt/bin/tar to /bin/tar because /opt/bin/tar is a symlink to /bin/tar (I think).

Either way it fails with the same error.

Also, to change the tar path in CPAN you can do the following:

root@DD-WRT:~# cpan
Terminal does not support AddHistory.

cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.7602)
ReadLine support available (try 'install Bundle::CPAN')

cpan> o conf tar

@ sebastian : thanks for putting that in. I made a minor change, in

Both netatalk 2.2.0-1 (or 2.2.0-2) and libdb5 install OK, but
... those of us testing @ the tomatousb.org site are unable to get
authentication to work as it should. Also, wondering about whether libdb5.2 is
playing nicely w/ Netatalk... some issues w/ cnid.

Is anyone (besides me) working on the Optware project feeds an OS X 10.6 or 10.7
user?

The native feeds are obsolete and exist no longer -- they've been empty
for a long time now. Basically, with optware we were able to get all
packages to cross-compile, so you should find everything in the
appropriate "cross" or "stable" feed.

thanks I think this helped me...

I edited all my /ect/ipkg/*.conf entries to " http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/cross"

I then did:

got new errors :
ipkg_download: ERROR: Command failed with return value 1: `wget --passive-ftp

 -q -P /tmp/ipkg-BdwnKy http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/native/Package

so I then edited: "optware-nslu2-native-stable.conf" to "src/gz optware-nslu2-native-stable http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/nslu2/cross/stable"
note this file didn't exist in my first edit of all files - can only guess that it showed up at the install unslung-feeds

The native feeds are obsolete and exist no longer -- they've been empty
for a long time now. Basically, with optware we were able to get all
packages to cross-compile, so you should find everything in the
appropriate "cross" or "stable" feed.

Lads,

I'm trying to make gnu-httptunnel run on the latest unslung. It suppose to
forward a TCP connection (SSH) encapsulated inside HTTP request/response pairs.
The idea is to build a gate for penetrating DPI firewalls by hiding easy
classifiable SSH traffic inside HTTP.

Does anybody here made it work on unslung? ..somebody definitely tried cause it
is already included to the repository. If so, please share the knowledge. Help
is greatly appreciated.

Steven,

Thank you for the fast reply. Unfortunately HTTPS Tunnel by Barracuda Drive
cannot break and encapsulate SSH packets into standard HTTP send/request pairs.
This is necessary in order to blend-in for DPI firewalls with complex patterns
recognition capabilities.

Hi,

I have installed the bind package from optware on my Qnap TS-212.
When I try to start named, I just get a segmentation fault.

I have firmware version 3.5.0 Build 0816T.
I installed bind using:

ipkg install bind
Installing bind (9.6.1.3-4) to root...
Downloading
http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs05q1armel/cross/unstable/bind_9.6.1.\
3-4_arm.ipk
With "Successfully terminated".

Strace named shows a lot of "No such file or directory" messages but i'm no
expert on this so I'm not sure if i'm missing anything?

Hi,
Within about 10 hours of booting my NSLU2 with SlugOS 5.3 Beta automatically shutsdown. There is no Ready/Status LED only Ethernet LED on and the power button light on. The only way I could restart is unplugging power and restarting.
I use this only for MediaTomb and Transmission as Bit torrent client.

I have been using this setup for more than year with no problems but recently have changed my attached new external hard drive(Western Digital Elements 1TB). The auto shutdown problem started after that.

I don't know where to find the logs to investigate what is going wrong.

Please advice or help resolving my problem. Also if needed I would not mind changing the firmware to something else.

Regards,
Mahesh

It’s reported here that odd shutdowns like this can be a problem with the power supply. Try another power supply of similar output voltage and wattage, see if that helps.

Thanks RF.
It did the trick. My Slug is happily running for more than 48 hours now...

Hi,

Would someone nice person with a nslu2 toolchain please compile the 2.4 version
of bzfs, the BZFlag server, the current 2.0.12 version in the repository is not
compatible with the new 2.4 BZFlag client. Unslung or SlugOS5.3, either would be
OK for me (I've both :-))

Please.

Hi Guys

It would be great if the maintainer of gnupg could update the optware package to 2.0.18, as this bug stops it working effectively with duplicity at the moment for secure backups:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnupg2/+bug/815190

TIA

Paul
