Hey,

Anybody have a recommendation for a color picker program? Something that
will copy the HTML color code to the clipboard when you click on any color
on the desktop (or something similar)? I've used one before, but I believe
that was a computer ago and can't seem to anything in my downloads folder.

thanks,
Julie

Color Selector is a neat free programme lets you use just about any common
color format you like, including a nice screen picker. Now at SourceForge

Best wishes

Hello Sir/Madam

I have WIN 2000 at both ends with DSL internet connection which offers
permanent IP address. That is to say I have permanent IP at both ends.

Any solution?? If possible I would not like to use MS tools for this task.

Hello Sir/Madam

I am a professional graphic designer. In the course of my business activity
I frequently upload single files of 10MB or more. And if the break takes
place, I have to depend on the RESUME feature which may or may not be
vailable depending upon the clients FTP server.

May some body advice me upload utility similer to a download utility in
which large files are split, downloaded by different threads, and then
automatically added together.

What i mean is that file to be uploaded will automatically be split,
uploaded by different threads and then again added on the server.

I shall be greatful to receive any reply.

in the file that are formatted like: 'something'

Everything inside the single quote and the single quotes themselves
need to be removed.

My problem is "something" is different in every instance.

Is there a wildcard search and replace or something that I can use?

Srish,

What exactly do you want to do once they're connected? That will
determine whether you even need a VPN or not. Also are you using 2000
Pro or Server? Server has almost everything you'd need built-in and I
haven't seen many security holes in Routing & Remote Access.

nascent,

4 examples to fit varying conditions. Just be sure you don't have any
stray 'single quotes' in the file, that could really skew the end result.

; remove 'something', not including leading or trailing spaces
^!Replace \'.*\' >> "" TIWRSA

; remove 'something', including leading space
^!Replace \s\'.*\' >> "" TIWRSA

; remove 'something', including trailing space
^!Replace \'.*\'\s >> "" TIWRSA

; remove 'something', including both leading and trailing spaces
^!Replace \s\'.*\'\s >> "" TIWRSA

You can use either as a clip command or type \'.*\', including the \s
for leading and/or trailing spaces, into the Find side of the
Find/Replace dialog and tick the regex box.

funny you should ask this here
there are many, but none as powerful as this tool notetab a plain text
editor

try going to http://mozilla.org and get mozilla suite and use its html
editing ... then use thunderbird and forget you ever heard of OE
this should go to off topic list for further discussion I believe as it
has nothing to do with notetab. I'll copy it there for futher responses.

always us plain text because it's all to easy for HTML to get corrupted.

Hello everybody,
I guess that many of you are not only text editing as well as html-page makers
all the time, but you have also other hobbies.
So here is a question very far from "NoteTab" editor, but I will still ask..
I would kindly ask those who are close to the subject for advise about
Video-capture card (TV tuner included) with good performance and not too
expensive, since I want to arrange my videos which are on tape.
There are so many on the market, but I certainly can use some advise from
experienced people.
Thanks alot and Regards

Mordechai,

I stopped by my local computer shop today and discussed with the owner
components I might choose for a new system.

I'm not experienced at all with video capture but I seem to recall he
mentioned the video card in his own system, if memory serves, he was
talking about an ATI Wonder, model 9600.

ATI has a model 9800 but the 9600 has the same specs and an additional
video port. The 9600 is the newer card, thus, the difference. My
computer guy opines it is the best card available.

Hi All,

Does anybody know a trick to getting icons assigned to like
Internet shortcuts. I have the shortcuts in the root folder and
also the icons. I've tried all kinds of paths already. Here's an
example...

Shortcut:
..\The NoteTabbers Assistant Page.url
Configured icon as the following (desperate <g>)
I would think the first should work on any computer when the
CD is plugged in, but I only get the not associated icon.

ClipBook.ico
\ClipBook.ico
.\ClipBook.ico
..\ClipBook.ico

I recommend the Hauppauge line of TV tuners. I'm currently
using a PVR-250, which is near the basic end of their product
line but quite nice for my needs: stereo decoding, excellent
image quality, solid hardware-based MPEG encoder. If I recall
correctly, mine cost about US$120 a couple of years ago.

Be careful of some lower-end cards that have limitations like:

     - Mono, not stereo

     - MPEG encoding in software rather than hardware (much
       slower and/or much lower quality)

     - Don't communicate with sound card over the PCI bus
(means you have to occupy your soundcard's line-in jack
with a patch cable from the TV card)

The Hauppauge card has none of these limitations. You'd be
surprised how many do in this price range: for example, low-
end Pinnacle and ATI.

Hope this helps,

Scott

No, besides that is Karen's software which is good for your own
CDs, but not really for distribution, because it requires the VB
runtime files. (They might be standard on XP installs, but not on
some other Windows OS.

I am talking about regular Internet shortcuts like to a URL/link.
As you know you can right click and choose Properties and then
change the icon. Windows comes back and tells me it is wrong no
matter what I put in unless if it is the full path on my machine
which does no good for CD distribution.

Thanks!!!

Nope. I would think it would come right up and show the icon like
if it were an HTML url on the web. You know, same folder, just
the filename is used. But, I cannot get it to show up and was
hoping there was a trick to it without any additional software,
or at least no software required by the end user.

Thanks!

YGArchive - program to download YahooGroups mailing list archives
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This program is NOT production quality. It is a very quick and
very dirty tool I wrote in about an hour. You have been warned.
Tested only on Windows 2000 SP3 with Internet Explorer 6.0.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Internet Explorer 5.0 or later must be installed on your system.
It does not have to be the default browser, but must be available.
2) IE must be configured to automatically accept cookied from
yahoo.com. If IE is set to block cookied from Yahoo, the program
will not work at all, because Yahoo requires a cookie before it
feeds the page you request to the browser. If IE is set to prompt
on receving a cookie, you'll have to accept a cookie manually for
every message in the archive - not recommended.
3) Immediately before using this program, start IE and visit the
YahooGroup site whose archive you want to download. If you are
prompted to log in to your Yahoo account, do so. This is required
so that IE has a fresh identification cookie from Yahoo. These
cookies expire every 24 hours or so, so an old cookie will cause
the archival process to fail. (The program cannot log in for you,
because it would have to know your password - that is quite beyond
the scope of this simple application.)
4) When visiting your Yahoo Group site, click the "Messages" link
on the left and note the URL to any random message. It should
have the form: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GROUPNAME/message/
where GROUPNAME is the name of your Yahoo Group mailing list.
make sure to note this name - you will need to supply it to
TGArchive precisely, using the same lowercase and uppercase
characters that appear in the URL.
While here, also note how many messages there are in the archive
(check the "First" and "Last" links in the message index).

DOWNLOADING A YAHOO GROUP ARCHIVE:
1) Start the program and click the "YahooGroup information" tab.
2) In the "YahooGroup name or full URL to message list" enter
EITHER the name of the group (spelled exactly as you saw above),
OR enter the full URL - the URL should end with 'message/'. Make
sure to include the trailing slash.
3) You can download all or selected messages from the archive.
Using the spin edit boxes enter the nunmber of the first and last
message to download. Note that, depending on the speed of your
Internet connection and size of the messages, you'll be receiving
about 10-20 messages a minute, so 1000 messages may take about an
hour.
Do not ask for more messages than your YahooGroup archive actually
contains .When the browser attempts to retrieve a non-existent
message, Yahoo does not return a 404 error, but a normal HTML
document that says the message does not exist. YGArchive does not
detect this, and will happily continue retrieving as many messages
as you ask it to. This does no harm, but will waste your time.
4) Click the "Output folder" button and select a folder where
the group's messages will be stored. Do not download messages
from more than one group into the same folder, because the
previously downloaded messages will be overwritten.
5) In the "Output format" group box click the radio button
corresponding to the format in which you want messages to be stored.
You can select HTML, Text or both. HTML messages are stored as
'xxxxxxxx.html' files, and text messages are stored as 'xxxxxxxx.txt',
where 'xxxxxxxx' is the message number, left-padded with zeros (for
easier sorting in a file manager).
If you check the "&Prepend group name to filenames" option, the
name of the Yahoo Group will be prepended to the filenames, e.g.
"mygroup00001234.html".
Note: YGArchive can only retrieve the BODY block of an HTML document,
the HEAD block is not available via the IHTMLDocument interface.
A basic HEAD block is generated on the fly, to ensure that the HTML
documents are properly formatted. The URL of each message is inserted
as the document's TITLE, and in a HTML comment immediately after the
opening BODY tag. This makes it easy to extract the original URLs
in a parser.
6) When ready, click the "Get YahooGroup messages" button. The first
page will take slightly longer to load; subsequent pages will be
retrieved faster. You can stop/abort the process at any time.
On the "Job Log" tab YGArchive stores progress and error messages.
At any time (while the process is running or later), you can
right-click the list of messages to copy them to clipboard or save
to a file.
Additional notes:
* The process cannot be much faster, because YGArchive gets the
messages from Internet Explorer's IHTMLDocument interface, which
is only available after a document has been fully loaded and
displayed. This is why the program has to wait until IE has
received and rendered each successive message. That's part
of what 'quick and dirty" means. There are better methods, but
this isn't one of them.
* YGArchive only downloads the messages from your YahooGroup mailing
list. It does NOT perform any additional parsing of messages,
it does not arrange them in threads or perform any other process.
This is left as an exercise for the reader :)
* The program is specifically designed to work with Yahoo Groups
mailing list archives. It will emphatically NOT WORK with any other
archives or web sites (including other sections of Yahoo).
* This is NOT a release-quality program. I wrote it, it worked for
me, that's it. If the program generates sufficient interest, I may
put more work into it. Comments are welcome.

Hi Alec,

Here it is. The readme file has all the ugly details; please let me
know how you've fared or if there's any problem. I didn't spend a lot
of time on this, but it did the job for me.

Best regards,

If you want a production quality programme then try PG Offline
http://www.pgoffline.com/ Not freeware but does an excellent job as an
off-line reader for Yahoo Groups. It will read al the existing posts and
write them into a local offline database. Can also create archives and the
developer will host archive downloads free of charge - the catch being that
you need PG Offline to read them.

+++++
# Download & archive all the messages from a Yahoo group.
# Import/Export all or a range of messages for group/s as one file.
# Hide posts prefixed with '>' so when you're reading a thread you only see
new posts.
# Mark special messages as 'Favourite' so you can find them again easily.
# Sort by author, date, message number, subject, favourite or new status.
# Search messages by author, subject or content even over multiple groups!.
# Save and load search parameters. Save and load search results.
# View only new messages & read them in a digest format.
# See statistics for the group. See how many posts you've made, etc.
# Share attachments downloaded before the Yahoo cutoff.
+++++

Best wishes

Bob

Hello

Somewhat to my surprise, given the obvious connection between ClipWriter
and Notetab Pro, there is very little mention of ClipWriter anywhere in
the Notetab groups. I was hoping to find user opinions and comments,
good or bad.

If there are any ClipWriter users out there who would like to share
their experiences please post here or feel free to contact me directly
at notetab AT lists DOT joggernet DOT com. Likewise, if you tried
ClipWriter and decided against buying it I'd be interested to hear your
thoughts.

Charles:

You should have got a file upload notice.
FWIW: the program mentioned by Bob Janes : PG Offline
http://www.pgoffline.com/ looks like a really good one and appears to have a
trial period.

Please let us know how you make out with either one of them ...

Regards ... Alec
