Not sure what you mean by "use". However, it you mean display in a
"Details" view of the file list for a folder, and you want freeware,
then xplorer2 (the two should be superscript) is excellent.

You will need to read the full 289 page PDF manual to get the best out
of it!  :-)

Please tell me there is a solution to my predicament.

Is there a way to convert the contents of a WinXP folder in 'details'
view to a text file? I have to add the 'date picture taken' to
hundreds of photos on a website and a straight copy and paste would
make my job soooo much easier.

Holding my breath for the answer . . . thanks.

Do not know if I understand you correctly, but with Totalcommander (a
filemanager) it is possible to print a folder directed to the printer.
But instead to print, you can tell it to print to a file.

After that - print to a file - is it just a question to open the file
with NoteTab of something else.

Maybe this is helpfull.....

If you were following the "Properties" thread you'll know that I swear
by the freeware xplorer2 Lite (http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm).

"Copy Columns" on the Edit menu will do the trick!

kent,

I'm using v5.1 and I have a clip named 'convert measures.clb'.  I
converted all the working clipnames to a PTBar, loaded the toolbar and
was able to run all the above mentioned clips, and more, from the
Personal Toolbar.  No problems.

How are you adding the clips to the toolbar? Below is a short sample of
my 'convert measures.ctb'.

"convert measures","Fahrenheit -> Centigrade","one.ico"
"convert measures","Centigrade -> Fahrenheit","one.ico"
"convert measures","Inches -> Centimetres","one.ico"
"convert measures","Centimetres -> Inches","one.ico"
"convert measures","Miles -> Kilometres","one.ico"
"convert measures","Kilometres -> Miles","one.ico"
"convert measures","Pounds -> Kilograms","one.ico"
"convert measures","Kilograms -> Pounds","one.ico"
"convert measures","Dollars To Swiss Francs","one.ico"

If the actual clip a clipbar button is trying to run is not available,
the clipbar button will do nothing. For example if you rename a clip,
delete a clip, rename the clip library the clip is in, or delete that
clip library, then that clipbar button will do nothing.

If you're running v5.1 of NoteTab, check the clip library. Mine had spelling
typo's that stopped some of the clips working, I did mention this to Eric so I
would expect that the spelling would be fixed by now without the need for a
version change.

Kent,

Didn't mean to confuse the issue. The examples above are 'Personal
Clipbar entries similar to what you get by dragging an individual clip
to the personal toolbar. I assumed you're familiar with process since
you said some of the clips didn't work from the Personal ToolBar.

Each line is saved in a comma-delimited format.
The three parts are, the "clipbookname","clipname","iconname".

The entries are created and saved in a file in the NoteTab 'libraries'
folder with an extension of .ctb. The filename is the same as the
clipbar name, or, you can create a new file manually as I did in this
case, for testing purposes.

Stan pointed out there were some alternate spellings in the clipbook,
kilometres <> kilometers, etc.. I've since corrected my clipbook but in
limited use I hadn't run into any previous problems.

Have you considered running W98 in a virtual machine? You can get a copy
of VMWare Workstation Beta for free here..
http://register.vmware.com/content/beta/ws/download.html

Just follow the instructions in the manual to install W98 as a guest OS.
It's quick, simple, painless, and safe.

If you feel you have to have W98 directly bootable then have a look at
BootitNG (see http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/bootitng.html). This will
allow you to do everything you need - backup your existing system,
partition your disk, set up a boot menu, etc.. It is a very powerful
utility and in my experience easy to use. Others find it a bit daunting
because the documentation is a bit more technical that they are
comfortable with.

Whatever you do, it's always advisable to take a backup of your existing
system before you start, just in case....

It is very likely that the disk on the PC is formatted as NTFS. Win 98
won't work with NTFS, so any direct installation of Win 98 will require a
reformat (to FAT32) of the partition it is to be installed on, plus a
reformat of the other partition if Win 98 is expected to see it.

If you absolutely need Win 98 natively installed on a computer, then the
least effort solution is probably to pick up a second-hand computer and put
it on that.

I notice that John has suggested VMWare for a virtual installation. This
would possibly mimic a FAT32 format for Win 98 on an NTFS system, and could
well be a good way to go.

I thought that was what I said. :-)

The PC already has two partitions - i.e. the second partition is already
formatted, presumably as NTFS. The partition might be empty, or it might
not - Mordechai doesn't say it's empty, or that it's been created as FAT32 -
so I need to assume that it isn't and hasn't.

My other point is valid too. Assuming that the XP partition is NTFS, then
Win 98 won't be able to see it. In the absence of any information to the
contrary, I assume that Win 98 needs to see the same file area as XP.
Therefore, it would also need to be converted to FAT32.

This can be done with Partition Magic, without losing the contents. I don't
know if there are any other products that will perform a format change
without wiping the partition.

If on the other hand he only needs to read the data on the NTFS
partition (and not write to it with Win98) he could try looking at:-

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/NtfsWindows98.html

which is free.

Hello and thanks to all the 'replyers'
I am so sorry I forgot to mention in my question that the partitions on the
disk are FAT32,
and one partition is totaly empty.
I am thinking to try the VMWare option - it sounds interesting (I never
tried it) - the final decision is what my grandson will like.
When it's done I will let you know.
So again thanks to all of you
and a Happy New Year.
PS. Now I have some problem with MY computer, but this for another post.

Hello,
Recently when I play a video clip (with Power DVD or Nero ShowTime, because
I stopped using WMP - its slow) no matter what kind AVI / WMV / MPG or size,
in series (one after the other), *sometimes* the computer SHUT DOWN (without
any warning) and starts to reboot -
of course there is the blue screen, the drive checks (sometimes one drive
sometimes more) and then the reboot finished and everything is fine and
computer works normaly.
In the "Control panel - Device Mgr." everything is "+", no conflicts,
I ran updated AntiVirus, AdWare, SpySweeper - all is clean.
No matter if online or offline.

And some other thing, while online and going to links from page to page,
many times the IE crashes.

OS is win xp pro+sp1
Memory 640 MB
CPU AMD Athlon 1.2
Display card (AGP) Nvidia Geforce FX5200 + 128MB

The main thing which bothers me is the first one, perhaps some hardware
problem.
Any ideas to solve the problem or tests to locate the problem will be
appreciated.
Thanks in advance
and Happy New Year
Mordechai

First guess problem with the drivers for the display.

Go to Google.com and type in

"Nvidia Geforce FX 5200" windows blue screen death

Your problem seems not to be unknown.
