It took a bit of changing around and running the clip in different forms
but I finally figured out that F="Clipbook Libraries (*.clb) before the
pipe (|) places the string "Clipbook Libraries (*.clb)" into the "File
Types" dialog and *.clb after the pipe (|) limites the files displayed in
the selection window to those with a clb extension. I already knew about
^$GetLibraryPath$. I just did not think to use it until after I posted the
clip to the list.
Thanks Eric.

Hi all,
I have just uploaded new versions of several libraries that are packaged
with NoteTab 4.6.
Clips46.zip; size 24'949 Bytes:
http://www.notetab.ch/ftp/clips46.zip
Just unzip the contents of the clips46.zip file to the Libraries subdirectory.
I have added Library management Clips to the Utilities library, and
improved the wizard for the "Compare files" Clip. New words have been added
to the AutoCorrect library.
As always, I am interested by your feedback.

You can also start the name with an underscore, an exclamation, or any other
sign, e.g. "_MyClip", "!MyClip", "~MyClip".
That will place them on top of the list.
Some characters you can use are (the first ones will be sorted first):
"!#$&'*+-."

You are welcom. The only way I know To keep a clipbook in the top ten is
to start the name with a number: 1 Launch.clb, 2 Otltools.clb, 3 Test.clb,

It might be me BUT perhaps you could check your copy to see if things
work ? I went to the toolbar, right clicked, Properties, changed the
button width, said OK .......and there was no change in size !
Apparently the icons change size only if one does NOT have the "show
caption" item selected ! Is this how it is meant to be ? I wanted to
change the size AND have the caption.
Four suggestions as a result of a quick glance at 4.6 :
(1) As the existing copy and the trial were in different directories I
had to stop for a moment to work out which copy was which. My
suggestion is to change the splash screen. Instead of it opening up
with "NoteTab Pro" only, add the version number. The 4.6 can be in
small letters BUT it should still be there IMO. :-)
(2) Changing the icon size should IMO result in ;
(A) The icon and text changing proportionally.
(B) The icon changing size but the text remaining the same size. If
the icon is too small for the text then shorten the text.
My preference is (B)
(3) On the icons tab I suggest you display what the icon looks like.
Why ? If one is doing the selection on top of one's "normal" toolbar
one can lose track of which ticks are "new". Unless one cancels
everything and starts again.
If one could click on a tick, and see the icon that will end up on the
toolbar, then it is easier to see which icons are existing and which
are new.
(4) If one has text on the toolbar icons selected and a button isn't
available then the picture AND the text go grey. I would suggest
leaving either the text "normal" and the graphic grey OR vica versa.
Regards, John.

Hi All,
I put two clips up on Snatch-A-Clip. If you normally use
the same case for your image tags (and lower or the
filenames) then these are over bloated for you since
NoteTab and simpler clips can be made to handle that. I
have some in Note Page Maker.
Image Tag Case I allows you to add an image tag and file
choosing which case you want for the tag and attributes.
It also lets you choose the filename case or leave it as
is. The only cases supported are lower and upper. There
are options for HSPACE, ALIGN, BORDER, and ALT attributes
as well. They are not added to the tag if not used.
Image Tag Case II allows you to add an image tag and file
choosing which case you want for the tag and some
attributes. Is is a shorter version of Image Tag Case I.
This one also lets you choose the filename case or leave
it as is. The only cases supported are lower and upper.
The main difference is HSPACE, ALIGN, and BORDER are
taken out for speed. The ALT attribute is still there.
They both have an option to add a server path of any type
such as ../image/filename.gif and the image can be
browsed for.
This is off the top of my head, so if it doesn't work
just get there from The Notetabbers Assistant Page below.

Hi all,
I have just uploaded the pre-release version of NoteTab Pro 4.6 (commercial
version). The file uses a new version of my wrapper program. It will ask
you to indicate where your registered copy of v4.x is located (if it cannot
find it in the default directory). Once it detects the registered copy of
NotePro.exe, it will extract the Setup program and offer to make a backup
copy for you.
NoteTab Pro v4.6; size 1'443'593 Bytes:
http://www.notetab.ch/ftp/ntp460k.exe
The package includes a Setup program and can be easily uninstalled if
necessary. Please make a backup copy of the NotePro.exe file you are about
to upgrade. The reason is that I cannot guarantee yet whether this will be
the final release copy or not. If ever I make minor changes, I will be
releasing a new upgrade wrapper which will then have to detect the
registered NotePro.exe file of v4.52 or older.
My brain is a bit tired now, but I hope my instructions are clear enough.
Please tell me if you experience any problems with the new wrapper program
or Notetab Pro 4.6. Thanks for your feedback.

Eric Fookes

Hi All,
I see that Eric has fixed the bug in Modify | Alignment | Left Align with
this trial release. The clip below works correctly now. There is one
little buglet left in Modify | Lines | Trim Blanks. If there is one or
more tabs or spaces at the end of the last line being trimmed, this
function leaves one space at the end of that last line. It should trim all
trailing blanks from all of the lines in the selection. The last five
lines of the clip below would be unnecessary if this worked. Anyway, it is
not that serious. Thanks for the fix Eric.
Jody, the clip that you and I tried to get to work last January now works
with out triggering wizards or clip commands in the form below:
---------< start clip >---------
H="Trim Blanks"
^!If ^$GetSelSize$ = 0 Next Else Skip

Hi all,
I'm getting very little feedback concerning the pre-release versions. I
don't know if this is a good or a bad sign. In case some of you have had
difficulty downloading the files, here are the links again:

Both programs include a Setup program and can be easily uninstalled if
necessary.
To allow more time for feedback, I have decided to delay the official
release till Monday morning (CET) 22 March. Please inform me quickly if you
discover any problems with this release or errors in the documentation.
There's still a bit of time left to correct these if necessary.

Hi All:
Re: Backup Control Timer Clip.
I have finally finished re-writing this clip and getting it working to
my satisfaction. The earlier versions had various weaknesses and
limitations which have now been largely eliminated. This program will
automatically control the backup of any number of files which are open
in NoteTab, on a time interval basis which you can specify, (1 = 1
minute and decimal amounts are accepted, I suggest 5). You can also
specify the number of Backup Copies of each file which are to be kept,
the default is 3. When the time interval is reached, a Warning Message
is displayed to tell you to stop typing. This prevents data from being
accidentally keyed into an incorrect file during the file save
process. If you open any New files while the timer is running, at the
end of the next interval, you will be asked to Name and Save that file
at that point. If you close any active file, the timer is
automatically stopped, at the end of the next interval. Please read the
included ReadMe Text file.
This is Version 5 of this clip and it requires NoteTab Pro Ver. 4.6.
It is available at the following URL:

Variables and several ^$Functions$ work that way and I can only suggest
that you do a search and replace of the text before you use them:
^!Replace "^" >> "&&#&" TIHSA
This makes the clip commands, variables, and functions no longer active.
After you have done what ever it is you want to do, then you do a reverse
of the above to restore the clips in the text.
^!Replace "&&#&" >> "^" TIHSA
The character string "&&#&" has no special meaning. It is just a marker
string that is unlikely to occur normally in any text you use it in and so
you can use it to mark the positions of the carets in your text until you
restore them.

Hi all,
This time, I am informing you of the pre-release version of the trial
version of NoteTab Pro 4.6. Please do not share it with others until the
official launch. The package is complete and includes the Setup program. I
hope to officially release this new version on Friday 19 March. This still
gives me a little bit of time to fix eventual problems in the documentation
or the program. No new features will be added at this stage.
NoteTab Pro Trial v4.6; size 1'240'458 Bytes:
http://www.notetab.ch/ftp/ntp460t.exe
You may notice that the NotePro.exe file is a lot smaller now - yes, this
is normal <g>. As a result, you will now be able to carry NoteTab around on
a diskette without having to install before using it (if necessary). I
would be particularly interested to know from you if you notice any
difference in the speed of program loading when you execute this version of
NoteTab.
Please inform me quickly if you discover any problems with this release or
errors in the documentation.

By now you probably found out that you can select text in a doc as
many times as you want in a clip, you just cannot select say a
paragraph and skip one, then another, then run the clip.
>I was hoping I could tell it to select one paragraph at a time (with
>an option to tell it how many of each kind of paragraph there is in
>each file) and do a specific action to each one or each group of
>paragraphs. I still haven't given up on getting NoteTab to do this. :)
Look in Example 4.6 or whatever it is called this beta and look for
the clips that show the delimiter examples. They are by the array
clips. There is one there that you can pick what paragraph you want
to select by number.
NoteTab sees a paragraph as any line with at least one character up to
the first hard line break. Say you have a line that is 500 characters
long and word wrap is one. There will not be any hard breaks in the
line but it will be wrapped at the window width for each line.
You can see this better with the command Select Paragraph. Make two
long paragraphs. Make one with the lines joined, no hard breaks in
it. The other format it so that it has hard breaks preferably shorter
lines than your window size so it is easier to see. Put your cursor
over the first paragraph and run the clip below. then do it on the
second paragraph.
H=Select Paragraph
^!Select Paragraph
You can select a paragraph that has a blank line above and below it
and be sure to get all real paragraphs whether they have hard breaks
or not by running this. Notice you can keep selecting text over and
over.
H=Show Paragraph

Send to that address now instead of Ntb-Advanced.
You do not have to unsubscribe using:

give some time for folk out of town to read the old list,
etc. I will delete it. I will make it a moderated list

Hi All,
Seems eGroups finally broke loose with some additions. I just received
a post saying 140 subscribers added and another saying 101 invited.
There will probably be a number of you who get both. If you do, you
disregard the invitation if you are reading this post with the from
address of Ntb-Advanced@eGroups.com. You should receive two copies.
There are about four members that sign on over the last few days. You
will need to manually subscribe to the new list. Just send an empty
post to:
Ntb-Clips-Subscribe@egroups.com
Please start making all your posts over to the new list and not Ntb-Advanced.
You can stay subscribed to it if you want. It will take
me a few days to get the time to figure out how to move the archives
to the new list.

Sorry about the delay. Some things just got messed up and took awhile
to get straightened out - hopefully they are.

Howdy all -
I've been plugging away with my good ol' NoteTab Pro,
and just downloaded the newest version (4.6 final Beta 4)
I could find.
One thing I'd love to see in the near future is context-
sensitive text coloring, similar to that which is already
done for the HTML syntax, but for C, Awk, Perl, or any
user-specified syntax.
Ex: I specify a list of keywords that should be viewed as
"type 1" words. In C, for example, I might use "int, float,
double, char, void", etc., and NoteTab would display these
words in the format of my choosing (say, blue text). I can
then specify as many word types as I'd like, with different
fonts.
As it is, the HTML auto-coloring is very helpful, but I
also program in C and other languages (including a proprietary
scripting language we use at work), and it would be great to
be able to re-use that feature but based on a generic syntax,
rather than being limited to HTML's syntax.
Peace, and Smooth Waters.

Hello NoteTabber!
The NoteTab Clip List was created because of NoteTab becoming more complex with
the released of version 4.5 having the new script writing language in it. The
regular list was getting flooded with long complex scripts that the average user
and especially people new to NoteTab couldn't understand. Some were overwhelmed
with the amount of posts, especially ones that looked like a foreign language to
them. A number of people quit the list because of that.
We hope to use the regular list <NoteTab@eGroups.com> for basic NoteTab "How to"
questions and other NoteTab assistance in general. The advanced list should be
used for: the more complex scripts, beta testing, talk about the more involved
suggestions, but not limited to that.
We hope you can get something out of it and that you can add to it.

Jody Adair
