NY Smalltalk Developers Group September General Meeting
Thursday, September 16, 1999 - 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
IBM headquarters in Manhattan
590 Madison Avenue at 57th St
--------------
Main Presentation: Introduction to Ultra Light Client and
'Serverization'.
Abstract:
As Smalltalk becomes more focused on the server, new technical
challenges face
developers. IBM's new Ultra Light Client framework is one path to help
manage
this complexity. ULC applications remove many of the headaches you face
in
building server applications while still giving you incredibly rich
GUI's.
Building a ULC application is for the most part the same as building a
fat
client application. However, certain 'serverization' issues need to be
addressed. These include concurrency, scalability and distribution.
This lecture will give you a good introduction to ULC and
'serverization'.
