| Tony: To be clear- I think oil from algae is a tremendously exciting concept. However, my suspicions are raised by claims like Valcent's of 100,000 gallons of fuel-grade oil per year per acre with minimal water input. To me, it does not make sense that they are searching for investors if they really had this technology functioning. I just punched in "El Paso, acre" into ebay and found several plots available for less than $1000/acre. Valcent presents their plastic serpentine algae grower thing as the star of their videos, but I've not seen any details on how to go from green water to useful fuel. Growing algae by the ton may be useful for many purposes, but I am still scratching my head with respect to how to make an useful oil-equivalent fuel from it. best regards, - Mark Caviezel |
