Hi everyone,
I'm the owner of an email discussion list for coaches (business coaches,
life coaches, etc), spread across Europe and the rest of the world. It
has been going for about 8 years now, and the numbers have been fairly
steady at about 500 for a couple of years now
I will soon be starting a serious marketing exercise, hoping to
massively grow the membership
However, we are already getting up to 30 messages a day. Presumably this
would go up as, which will push many members out due to overload
In "The Tipping Point", Malcolm Gladwell explains about the magic number
150. There is apparently a lot of evidence that humans have evolved to
function well in communities of up to 150 people. Above that number we
quickly loose track of who is who and who knows what
What our your thoughts on ideal numbers and on splitting up an email
discussion group into subgroups? Perhaps there are technical solutions
that give the best of both worlds?
Thanks,
Coen
