Hello Gene, yes that was the problem and doing a control and the letter E
took care of it. One big thank you from this end.

I should add that control e is a toggle. It switches between read only mode
and edit mode.

Is it possible that your document is in edit mode? try pressing alt+e for the edit mode and see what it says on the first option. let me know what you find out...
