Check to see if you have any repeating sections with a parent-child
relarionship.  If so make sure that on the layout that the sections are able to
split over a page break.

Tony's answer will certainly help. what i find a bit odd is that you need
to make a seperate file, most of these systems allow you to code it inside
the document itself. (the fax software will remove the code when faxing)

Short answer :

You can't

Somewhat longer answer :

For PS2 devices you can use EPS files (objects), make sure you use vector
based images (opposed to bitmaped). Use an older ps2 printer driver to
generate the EPS, or request a ps2 compatible Vector based EPS from the
design team, they probably know what I mean.

I have never been able to get the same thing working for images in PCL
objects (because these are bitmapped while generating), it does work for
plain text though.

I'm trying to print a maxicode 2D for a UPS label and am having a helluva time
getting the correct string to be encoded. The string I want encoded, including
escape sequences works but the barcode won't print at all (and designstudio
(1.2) fails on preview) if I don't include EXTENSION "POSTALCODE=... on the
command. When I include the extension(s) it places the extension value slap-bang
in the middle of my encoded-string, and it seems to be adding extensions I don't
even specify; "001" for service class and "840" for country code, neither of
which are on my command at all now.

Anyone had similar issues with maxicode and anyone know of a way to get around
these "features"?

Hi I'm using DesignStudio 7.8.30, busy making a form for a Windows eCI server
that requires me to write 2 files to a certain directory for every page of
input, and these are to be used by a fax server. One file is a .pdf and another
is a .hdr (header file). the pdf is basically the page thats getting faxed while
the hdr file is the file that tells the fax server where/how/when/etc and what
file name to look to print.

I need to write the pdf to the directory first, then the hdr afterwards for
every page that requires faxing. the order is imperative because as soon as the
hdr file get to the directory it starts looking for the file name, and then
faxes. so the pdf needs to already be there when the hdr files gets there. The
hdr file is simply a text file.

I'm note sure how to go about doing this, as I have tried IF/One-of-many-layout
flow tools, but they simply take the first true condition even if the next
conditions are true as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

is an extention to our product CompressWriter and adds functionality for the
following target market :

Optioâ„¢ customers who want to take advantage of the new Transform functionality
and have to migrate their documents.

New customers who don't have the ability to manipulate spool files coming out of
their ERP system so they can't create XML output. The server can also create XML
file suitable to use with Optio DesignStudio.

A run-time server which automatically picks up the ASCII spool file as an input
file from a print queue or a file queue and converts it to a structured XML file
including Break sections, repeating sections etc. The run-time server takes the
structure from a configuration file which will be delivered as a professional

Creation of the configuration file will be offered as a professional service. We

Why buying ASCII2XML.

Many Optioâ„¢ customers having a lot of documents with sometimes complex logic.

If customers want to review their documents and want to start from scratch,
conversion will take a lot of time. For some customers it will be a huge
investment. With this tool we will reduce the conversion time dramatically. We
are expecting to save at least 1 day per document.

Stability. ERP ASCII output files tend to be unpredictable especially when
dealing with page breaks. Mapping ASCII files therefore can be a very difficult
task. Most of the Optioâ„¢ customers dealt with it by using
preprocessing/multiple sections/grows etc. XML files just break on field
changes, so we are not facing that problem. Transformâ„¢ is very strong in XML
mapping, so we recommend to use XML file as the input method.

HI there, I have designed a form in designstudio 7.8.25.. im' using XML as my
input.

I have a qty column, adn a weight column that have information, but then I have
a TOTAL qty and a TOTAL weight, and unfortunately no values are sent in the data
for those fields.

My question is, how do i calculate the total qty and weight from the info
displayed in the respective columns and display that as the totals?  thanks.

Due to the lack of any type of debugging or logging tools, we can't figure out
why we can no longer login to the Optio MedForms server via Design Studio
(version 1.14) or by using Server Administrator. We have permissions set on all
folders as they should be. Nothing has changed with this.

We were able to login as recently as two weeks and the only change is that we
now have new domain controllers but the active directory domain did not change.

And try using the old Optio eCare site via BottomLine's hosting....yuck.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try to get the login working again?

Right now, our workaround is to manually copy the *.dcl to the local PC, work on
it and copy back to the server. An extra step but doable.

Requirement:

Need to add receipt section next to the payment section. Receipt section may
contain multiple receipts depending on the payments made for the order.

Questions here are:

1) Can we repeat whole section (here receipt section) if it is having multiple
receipts? If so, how to repeat it?
2) How to repeat the static data?
3) Can the receipts be printed side by side?
4) Do I need to get the data as xml tags?
5) Is it possible to have this kind of requirement in Optio?

Hello,

Could you please advise whether you found a resolution to your query. I am
attempting to do something similar.

I will have PDF copies of multiple packing slips stored on a mapped drive on the
Optio eCI 7.8 server (Windows 2003). When the invoice is to be printed, the
spool file will contain the packing slip numbers in the detail section. The
invoice will list stock codes and packing slip numbers in the repeating section.

I need to retrieve the PDF files of each of the packing slips and print them
with the invoice.

I am designing in Studio 7.8

If there is anyone who has accomplished this, please advise

I'm pulling a date out of our database.  The date is stored in Julian format
(yyyddd, where 1900+yyy = the year and ddd is the day of the year. So for 109308
the year is 2009 and the 308th day of the year is November 4th, so 11/4/2009)

Does anyone have any idea how I can do this conversion in DesignStudio with DCL?
In VB I'd do something like this.

dblJulian = 109308
intYear = 1900 + (CINT(109308 / 1000))
intDay = julian - (year * 1000)

date = 12/31/1899
date = date.adddays(intDay)
date = date.addyears(intYear)

console.write(date.ToLongDateString)
