Rarer than the ghost orchid - Triphora craigheadii   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #3090 of 3112 |
I have updated my blog with photos of the exceedingly rare and elusive orchid,
Triphora craigheadii. It is so small that it has gone undetected for many years
until its description in the mid-1960's by Carl Luer, author of The Native
Orchids of Florida. I had the privilege recently of visiting one of the few
known localities for this species and taking some photographs of the even more
rarely seen flowers (each plant flowers for only a day).
