make sure you are using the same midi channel on your keyboard that you are
viewing in the piano roll.

Also all octaves in the view as you need to scroll to see all notes?

Song or pattern mode? Notes or events (knobs)?

Orion Pro 5?

Sorry for "dumb" questions. :)

You are recording the way it is ment to.

I use OrionPro , and I record by pressing the record buton and then
the play buton on the top left. Is that not how its done?
I did check all 16 channels and I had no luck .

Are you sure you're recording to the right midi channel? Are you using easy
or advanced midi mode? Try checking the midi channel dropdown in the
pianoroll if you can find your notes from a another midi channel than the
default 1.

I have a problem with some VST instruments. One of them being the
Cheeze Machine, ita a free ware sinth i got off the the web a wile
back. Its got some nice pad sounds.
Anyway the problem is that when I record my selfe paly I do not see
the notes or anything in the edit window when I go back to edit, I
can hear every thing just as I have playd it.
Does any one know why and how I can fix this.

Well thanks again - I guess a combination of stupidity, laziness and
doubt on my part prevented me from figuring this out. This will make
my work with the drum machine go much faster...

Hello,

Could somebody give me some advice as what i am doing wrong with
tobybear channelgrabber. i am trying to record my guitar in synch
with my orion track. I know orion now as a similiar function but i
will upgrade only this summer.

This is my setup.

Orion Pro 5.0
Channelgrabber 1,3 and 2.0
Sb live ( I know ;p )

Channelgrabber 1.3

I put channelgrabber in sync mode then i press record and kbytes
written stays a 0. Then when i press play in orion the kbytes start
going up like its recording but when i press stop it gives my this
message: "dateizugriff verweigert" and When i try to play the wave
file it says data corupted.
In the live mode i get to record from my sound card but i cant get
orion and channelgrabber to start syncronized.

Channelgrabber 2.0

In this version i cannot record anything because there i cant find
the input selector (live/synch).

I also tried to synch it by using a midi out generator. I set channel
grabber to receive midi from midi out generator. Channelgrabber says
it is receiving c-2 but it does not go in record mode.

Maybe i need to change some sb live settings.

Thanks!

Kai

Yeah man, just look in the help under 'T'

It's in the built-in generators note editing sheet - down the bottom you
select T-Sliders and it comes up.

Recommend you read the help on it 1st...

You can do the copying in pianoroll mode. Select the notes (in mapped
mode you have all the drum hit notes in one view) hold ctrl and drag
with mouse to make copy of the selection.

Basically the bars switch just moves the edit offset to different position in
the pattern. So change the pattern size into 32, 48 or 64 from the default 16
(well, you can use non 16 sizes too). Then put this long pattern into the
playlist. With bar switch 1 you can edit 1-16, with 2 you can edit 17-32,
with 3 you can edit 33-48 and with 4 you can edit 49-64. So it's like having
"4 patterns in one".

Hi all:

I see that the drums generator has the ability to switch between bars,
but I don't understand how to use this feature - how do you tell the
song playlist which bar to use? I would like to add some bars to some
earlier (pre v. 5) efforts, but can't accomplish this goal.

Thanks,

Brian,

I recommend posting your query over on the Syapse website forums. I haven't
done any external midi gear stuff myself, though I know others have. I
guess your other question depends on the format the drum loops are in, but I
recommend just downloading the demo and trying it for yourself. It will
probably be a piece of cake.

Rich,

Obviously, the decision has already been made (and supported by the
masses); but...

1) I belong to about 28 email groups and receive DIGESTS for all of them
(except the ones I own)
          1a) Digests ARE email messages
2) I do not have the time required to check up on 28+ different web site
based forums
3) The contents of my email box always gets top priority
4) I have read almost every Orion digest I have ever received
5) I have not read a single post at the new Orion web site based forum

For the record, I would love to receive a daily digest (via email) of all
new postings to the forum.

Just offering one man's reality.. :-)

All correct but ... when I look at the subscription stats,
only 10% here use emailing, all others digest or web!

Even I stopped using emails at least a year ago, because
it turned out to be more practical to read from anywhere,
rather than having a constant flood in the mailbox, piling
up...well it's a matter of taste and habit really.

No, what would be really useful would be if the forum were mirrored as

I gotta agree with you John! :-)

I subscribed to this mail-list when "perfectly good" BB alternatives exist
because ... I *like* email. Email is PUSH technology. The messages come to me
without my having to remember to specifically go and look. Here's an example:
J. Random Musician discovers a kewl new effect and posts a note to the
mailing-list. I'm at work and I see the msg arrive and I say, "Oh kewl! I'll
remember that idea and save it in my Orion folder to look at in a few days when
I get a chance and I'm in the mood."

BB is PULL technology: I have to actively login to the BB and seek stuff. With
the my example, J.R.M. posts to the Orion BB, which I will never see because I'm
at work and I don't have multiple tabs in my browser open to all the dumb little
music BB's there are out there: Orion, Acid, Cubase, ... constantly hitting
refresh to see if anything changed ...

If there was only a single BB where all the information I need is posted, this
could work. But I use several products, which means several BBs, plus I'm an IT
professional, so I'm on at least 20 other mailing-lists which I use filters to
categorize as info arrives. I can't do any of these things with BBs--they can't
be automated. My mail-reader is the center of my info-universe.

Now, if the BB had an email gateway so that messages posted there also went out
via email, and vice versa, I'd be happy with that.

Anyway, as things stand, since everyone on orion-users seems to have wandered
off, I'm seeing less off-topic stuff in my mailbox. I guess I can't complain.

It seems to be useful at first but in practice isn't that much.

The reason is simply that rather than email flags (which ARE useful,
certainly wouldnt want to miss them) you dont know whether you
replied to a topic, and/or you might have to re-read since you forgot
about the content.

What's really useful is ordering for last posts and/or last topics
posted, which is possible.

IF the forum listed all unread messages when you logged in, then I'd be
interested. But having to wade through all the little subcategories trying
to find what I've missed ... I simply don't have the time. I'm glad the
new forums have been quickly adopted though - I hate unnecessary replication
more than anything....and I am sure Orion will benefit from them immensely.

Hmm there's quite some traffic on the 'official' forum now, and
people from OC migrated instantly, which I didn't expect so fast.

Anyways would be nice if some people from here would join too.

I'll still read here occasionally, but when you have something urgent
please use the forum, I might miss it otherwise.

Can the command stations be used just as sound modules used by orion
sequencer instead of its onboard one.

I used a prog called System Mechanic, it has a Windows Start Up
editor, you can enable/disable whatever progs you want.

for the start up sound, go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and
use 'none' for start up.

hope that helps
