With this amendment to ROSES-2005, NASA releases a new proposal opportunity
-- the Mars Odyssey Participating Scientists program. Notices of Intent to
propose are due July 1, 2005, and proposals are due September 1, 2005.
On or about May 19, 2005, Amendment No. 13 to NASA Research Announcement
"Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences" (NNH05ZDA001N) will be
posted on its homepage Web site at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ (select
"Solicitations" then "Open Solicitations" then "NNH05ZDA001N").
This amendment establishes a new Program Element B.23 in Appendix B
entitled "2001 Mars Odyssey Participating Scientists." Principal
Investigators of selected proposals for this opportunity will become
Odyssey Participating Scientists during the Odyssey extended mission and
will join the appropriate Odyssey science investigation depending on the
nature of their proposals. Participating Scientist proposals include
investigations that are instrument specific or interdisciplinary in nature
and must include both science analysis and an operational component in
order to be considered. The selected Participating Scientists will
coordinate their activities and analyses with the present investigators on
Odyssey. Each Participating Scientist selected under this solicitation
will have full rights of access to mission data and be expected to
participate in data analysis, archiving, and publication. Each selected
Participating Scientist will participate in mission operations. Each
Participating Scientist will be assigned to an instrument investigation
even in cases of interdisciplinary investigations. Notices of Intent to
propose are due July 1, 2005, and proposals are due September 1, 2005.
