Job Description: Java Developer / Software Engineer
Develop innovative software using industry best practices in a team
of high-performing professionals in a company where technology is a
leading differentiator in our market
Work as member of a Java development team with focus on maintaining
and creating Java Registration and Scheduling applications
Maintain and support mission-critical applications as necessary
Create and implement designs following Pearson coding standards
Participate in requirements, design, and code reviews
Write and execute unit tests
Provide support to other finance team members as necessary
Participate in group improvement activities and initiatives to
improve quality and pursue excellence
Increasing responsibilities with the following: Provide input into
long-term strategy/framework Develop design models from requirements
models using class diagrams, interaction diagrams, and other UML
diagrams Develop business and requirements artifacts that
effectively model the customer's requirements using use cases,
activity diagrams, and other UML diagrams
Performs other duties as assigned
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, a technology discipline,
or equivalent.
Two or more years of related experience required.
Specific experience in that time as follows:
- 2+ years Java development experience
- 1+ years experience in Object-oriented Analysis and Design
- 1+ years experience developing business applications using SQL and
relational database systems
Experience/familiarity with business objects, layered design, design
patterns, Swing, SQL, UML, JUnit, Stored Procedures and Triggers,
and Iterative development beneficial
Ability to think technically and analytically
Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in both written
and verbal formats with internal and external contacts
Must be a self-starter and work well with a team
