Compuware is seeking a SQL / Java technical lead programming
resource. Duties include requirements analysis, estimating, coding,
unit testing, integration testing and QA support. Work will be
performed in an agile development lab setting, in collaboration with
developers from Java / SQL Server and Java / WebSphere platforms, as
well as project management and business team members. This position
will work with a team on onsite and offshore Java development
resources to delivered prioritized functionality in planed
iterations. There will be hands on development work but the emphasis
on this position will be on the technical lead role. Communication
skill will be a key requirement. This is a hands-on development
role, but provides technical direction to other developers to see
that they are delivering the right solutions, can estimate their work
effort and deliver times, and coordinate testing, builds and
deployments. Ca ndidat e needs to be capable of interacting and
communicating clearly with a team of probably 5 developers, a QA
analyst, a PM and occasional other staff such as architects and DBA's.

Scope of Engagement
*Interact with team members, business areas and other IT areas to
evaluate system requirements, provide estimates, design
documentation, contribute to developing work plans, and constructing,
testing and implementing software.
*Develop and implement computer applications according to
departmental standards.
*In conjunction with the system users and under the direction of the
team lead, determine requirements and prepare system designs.
*Provide required documentation relating to estimates, design,
development, testing, etc. as outlined in the system development
methodology (SDM) and Integrated Project Methodology (IPM).
*Code and unit test application programs.
*Participate and/or lead in code walk through's, system tests,
i ntegration tests and acceptance tests.
*Complete implementation activities for assigned tasks.
*Monitor the performance of production systems, recommend and develop
improvements to system performance.

Required Skill Set
*At least 3-5 years SQL Server experience. Key skills are T-SQL, SQL
Profiler, DTS Packages, and SQL Server Agents. Ideal candidate will
have strong database development skills.
*At least 5 – 7 years Java experience. J2EE Preferred.
*Experience in retail POS and/or Payment systems a strong plus.
*Experience in agile development methodologies a strong plus.
*Eclipse experience. WSAD experience is a plus.
*Desirable skills: HTML, JavaScript, XML
*Analytical skills.
*Systems documentation skill.
*MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio.

Other Needs
*Adhere to documentation standards, including functional and
technical design, unit /integration/QA testing, code reviews and
implementation plann ing.
*Work schedule may vary. Nights and or weekend schedules may be
required during phases of the project.
