Hi all
Speaking of Youtube, I actually tried to use it in the classroom
with my Intermediate Speaking class. I pasted the front photo of
about 12 interesting Youtube videos onto a piece of paper, together
with a list of their titles.
The first task was to match a title with a picture. I then ran a
pyramid discussion, where a group of 2 had to decide on one video to
see, and write down the reasons on a piece of paper. I then combined
the groups to 4, then to 8, then the whole class. ..etc..
We then watched the selected video.
I had another video earmarked, called 'Dollface' [I recommend you
watch it]. It had no dialogue, but it was heavy with meaning. I had
discussion questions ready for it. The students watched the video,
and then I tried to facilitate group discussions ..etc..
The activity went okay, just okay - certainly it didn't rock and
roll, but I wondered whether it was conceptually a little difficult
for low level Korean/Japanese.
Food for thought.
