Success!

Your tool works like a charm! Finally I can use my P5 glove on my mac! Thank You
very much for this brilliant piece of software!

I wasnīt successfull in connecting p5osc with Reaktor but maybe it is my fault.

The only thing that remains unsolved is to get my SECOND P5 glove to work at the
same time - but there has to be something left to dream of... ;)

Thank You!

Wow!

That was a really fast response! I didnīt think of getting an answer this soon!
Thank You!

I have not tried out p5osc with previous versions of OSX as I just switched from
PC (where getting the P5 glove to work is not a big deal - perhaps the only
advantage of Windows ;)

I will try your MaxPatch later this day - so far it looks gorgeous!
Perhaps the p5osc version in your zip file is even a newer one as it is dated to
06/02/2008?

And I will try to connect p5osc to Reaktor which I havenīt tried yet. Maybe you
are right and it is a problem caused by Max 5.

Again thank You for fast answers!

I had p5osc working with Tiger...but upgraded straight to snow leopard so can't comment on the leopard compatibility.  I built a P5 to MIDI app using p5osc.  It was made in Max on a Tiger intel system, so I believe should be universal binary.

Dear all,

I hope you all are fine. I have an assignment to make 3D interaction of P5Glove with NetBeans IDE (Java program) within 2 weeks. I have installed drivers and made Jar file as written in Andrew Davidson's Book but now i have to write Java program in netbeans and make the interaction with P5Glove.

So if any one of you know then please let me know at your earliest I would be highly grateful.

Thanks & waiting for reply,
Bye

After I added some modifications to the control panel thingy to show where it
sees the leds I was able to confirm that if I have the fluorescent light in my
room turned on there is a significant increase in the jitteriness of the leds
and the tower has more difficulty finding the leds again after it's view to the
glove is occluded. This all seems to affect rotation calculations more than
position, but position is still noticeably affected.

On a side note, I was disappointed to learn from studying the code that similar
to the Wiimote, it seems the tower can only track at msot 4 dots at once (though
it seems it is a bit more resilient when there are more IR sources in view, and
of course, it can to some extent distinguish between different leds on the
glove)

Another thing that has disappointed me is the spurious measurement of the
position of the leds during partial occlusion and how easy it is to conuse the
tower with a TV remote. i expected it to just not find enough leds during
partial occlusion and be way more resistant to interference from other pulsated
IR sources, I thought it timed it's own pulses in such way that it would be rare
that other devices would have the timming of their own pulses match the pulses
the tower expects

Before i had means to see where the tower though the leds were, i was thinking
there was some reflexive surface in the room that was messing up the
measurements, but now I see that reflexive surfaces are the least of my problems
:(

I should probably compile an updated version. I'll try to do that this

I found it easiest to make a mex project through matlab to do any vc++ and
matlab/simulink programming. The dll can be downloaded in the Files section of
this group as A__DualModeDriverBeta31rd.zip. Make sure to link the mex compile
script to the MSVC compiler.

VR-SPACE is coming out with a new Version 3 of the Wintracker.

It is similar to a Polhemus Fastrak / Patriot but much more affordable.

There may also be a 7 sensor Glove in the Works.

I'll post more info soon.

Hi Everybody

I am going to sell 2 sets of p5gloves.

One of the gloves has been opened, so is not useable as a glove. I was planning
on re-positioning the LED-setup to enhance the tracking. The hardware is still
usable.

So the set includes:

2 Towers
1 Glove
the 'rough' hardware of another glove
Cables
Driver-Disks

if anyone is interessted, I could set up a fixed-price 'auction' in ebay, or we
could arrange for some other kind of transaction.

I am located in Austria, EU. So if you are from the EU it would be best.
Shipping to the US is quite expensive, so you might want to buy another set from
within the US.

I just burn my P5 because I did connect an external power supply and I didn't
realize that the polarity was inverted :(

I think the only damaged is the USB microchip, the name is partially burned.

I just need to know the full microchip name. You just need to take off the back
cap, the chip is a little one called USB 56 xxxx the last one going right and
down.

Thanks!

Is it just me or the finger sensor's output is not linear in relation to how

Also, is my thumb abnormal, or the thumb finger of the glove needs to be fit

I don't have a schematic for you, but the Flock of Birds system is most likely
built around a trio of fluxgate magnetometers paired with sequentially-pulsed
electromagnets (mocap points).

If further explanation would be any help, let me know.

It seems there is a new community-made version (a patch really) of DBTS just released yesterday or so, fixing a lot of issues and adding DirectX9 support to the old game.
http://www.megamods.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64

It doesn't seem to work with the P5 version though - it works but there is no P5 support.

2009/7/9 torin.gamer <torin.gamer@...>

Well, good news... it works for me!

Here's what I did:
0) set up P5 glove as per the manufacturers instructions. Then installed
official driver v2.0
1) copy the contents of the DBTS CD to C:\DIE
2) copy the contents of the LFL CD to C:\DIE
3) copy the patch files EXCLUDING the DATA and MOVES folders to c:\DIE
4) run either "windie.exe" or "dbts.exe"
5) select Options->Control->P5 Arcade

I don't know if excluding the folders makes a difference, but I thought
I'd start small...

The only in-game test I've tried was a quick Arena match with the glove
fingers as sword moves. It was a quick victory, so I'd call the test a
success!

System:
Dell Dimension2350
Celeron 1.8GHz
1GB RAM
EVGA nVidia 6200 PCI (Driver v182.5)
WinXP SP2
DirectX 9.0C

The only snag I've run into is that if I turn off the P5 I sometimes
lose the LeftMouseButton functionality on both my PS2 and USB mouse.
(Actually the LMB causes the window to lose focus!) This isn't related
to DBTS though, as it did this before I installed it. Perhaps something
to do with the P5's USB handling? I can often regain LMB function by
briefly turning on the P5. Weird...

Any way, thanks for passing on the patch!

I doubt it'll work, i keep getting an error concerning HID.DLL

I don't even know if the patch works.

I still have the full original P5 version of it (ie: i tried to create a patch from this), but AFAIK i could never actually get the patch to work on anyone's machine.
Actually the last time i tried - i couldn't even get the DBTS P5 version to work AT ALL on my machine.

I'll see if i can dig it back up and try some more though...

I think you'd be making a big professional mistake if are quoting to
supply an industrial grade solution with what is essentially a
discontinued toy.
You won't get dual hand without custom hardware hacking the devices ,
which I don't think is feasible give you have supply 1800.
I definitely wouldn't want to be trying to control mining equipment
with one of these things.

5DT would be a better starting point. They already have "true" unix SDKs

Hi Hasan

Seeing your email I have searched a little bit too. I have got one java code. Try to convert it in C++. Currently I am busy with transfering to another place. I am sending you the java code and the pdf file. If you get success in converting please let me know and if you wish please send me a copy too. It will be very nice of you.
