Yes!! An Easter Tour----by Adult Palaces Group-----BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
also Big News
24HOP is back in force and lots of us Oldies hope all of you--oldies
or not will join in!!!!!!!!!!
If you never heard of it--it was the biggest guided structured Tour
of all Palace life---around the world in 24 Hours---aka
24HoursOnPalace--was started by Wizzard of the Magus which was a
group of volunteers that took all kinds of courses----Avatars--
Iptscrae---Development--etc to be able to teach-help and to be
promoted to Wizards for the company that owned ThePalace copyrights--
however it got disbanded and we tried to keep it going but had no
list and the server was taken down etc . We did keep 24HOP going tho
for every year since until last year-----it died but now has been
resurrected-I worked it for 10 years myself.
It has 44 servers in it--each gets 10 rooms for the tour--and 30
minutes--no adult content and if you have it -HIDE it!! The HOP is
general so this is a must!! We start in New Zealand or Australia and
run on GMT and end up on the Pacific coast--hopefully in California
Dreams if we get chosen.
Too early to enter servers but never too early to volunteer to help
ThePalace keep an icon going--it takes lots of help to run this and
it pays back in meeting new people--seeing old friends and in general
the friendship and after all--that IS the idea isnt it??

First, you have to decide whether you want a "bot" or a sophisticated
room script.  A Bot is borg script running on a standalone computer
(PCs) or a separate Palace program (Macs).  It can go to any palace
or any room within a palace.  A room script is just that - a script
that only functions in a specific room.

Google "palace bot" and the like and you'll find a number of sites
that have bots you can use.

You would need to have a seperate hard drive for that-like I have an
external removable hd but now have another hd in my comp so I could run 3
clients-also I have tried to run the same version on both and found it
didn't work so I got another client from another place--just be sure it
isnt an illegal one cause most of us have a stopper now in plugins tha
wont allow a person with that to sign in---illegal haha any that are
altered are illegal but by that I really mean like xpalace client which
really sux--if you need another client-yell at me on my e mail not here
and I can help you

install a 2nd client?

2. have seen the fido/rex bots looking for something maybe more basic
i guess that just monitors the traffic while i am away from the palace

A true bot requires another hd if you are pc-but some "bots" are scripted
into a room i.e. gate etc-=I have 4 in my palace that are that type and
another for checking rooms etc on an external hd-can share the scripted
ones

Remember you have to have 2 hds to run a true bot--if you do --say so and some
one will get the addie for true bots--if you mean like an imbedded gate

Your server log does this in case you didnt know that but if you mean
something else---leave yourself or another client on if you have another
hd.

I want a simple bot that can be left on my server that will monitor
log in and log out of wizards, gmsgs, and changes...like...rooms being
added or deleted. I dont want it to keep any thing spoken to it or

We're back with another round of announcements for 24HOP IX!!  Thanks for your
patience.

24 HOURS ON THE PALACE IX begins on November 20, 2004 beginning at 0:00 GMT 
(that's Friday, November 19, 2004 beginning at 4:00pm PST, 7:00pm EST) and
continues for a 24 hour period.

TO SUBMIT YOUR PALACE for this event you must visit the web site at
http://palacehop.org or direct to submission page
http://palacehop.org/palsub.php and fill out the form.  At least one
representative from each participating Palace must be subscribed to the official
24HOP mailing list at http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/24hop.

****** THE DEADLINE FOR ALL PALACE SITE SUBMISSIONS IS MIDNIGHT SUNDAY, NOVEMBER

PLEASE BE AWARE:  Our primary goal is always to schedule a balance between
US/non-US sites, and so, as we sort through the enormous list of site
submissions, priority will be given to sites that reflect the theme of this
event, follow the global travel theme, and reflect the unique individuality of
various regions, people and places.  Unfortunately, there's just not
enough hours in a 24 hour timeframe to get EVERY site that we'd like to include.
From the sites submitted, only 48 will make it to the final schedule of tours
(30 minutes per tour).  However, all remaining submissions will be linked in our
Honorable Mentions rooms, from the main 24HOP palace -
palace://palacehop.org:9998.

We apologize in advance to those of you who may not make the first draft of the
schedule.  It is not a reflection on you or the quality of your Palace.  It's
simply a matter of administrative agenda.

MORE WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:

24HOP needs TOUR GUIDES AND TOUR LEADERS to escort visitors throughout the
various palaces participating in the 24 Hours On The Palace© tour. If you wish
to volunteer as a guide, please fill out the form at

official 24HOP mailing list at http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/24hop.

Of course, 24HOP needs TOURISTS to enjoy the event, itself!  So, it should be
great advertise the event at your site and/or palace. You can find graphics

All radios are encouraged to be part on event too and make coverage, inviting
their listeners to join us.

Before answering, the best place to ask about room scripts is in the
Iptscrae mail list you belong to.  This one is technically for creating
complex scripts that run unattended in a separate client which are called
bots.

To answer your question:
You can use any borg script in a room and it will function just as if it is
a borg script.

A typical dress script is:

ON OUTCHAT
{
     { [ 12345678 23456789 ... 87654321 ] SETPROPS
     "" CHATSTR =
     } CHATSTR "keyword" == IF
}

You can replace any number above with the name of the prop in quotes, e.g.:

[ 12345678 23456789 ... 87654321 ] SETPROPS
could also be
[ "spider1" "spider2" ... 87654321 ] SETPROPS


To draw something, strip the draw commands out of a borg you have and put it
in the room.  Here's what I have for drawing lips (taken out of the typical
move, kiss, and move back borg):

ON OUTCHAT
{
     { 255 31 0 PENCOLOR
     2 PENSIZE
     PENFRONT
     MOUSEPOS PENPOS
     4 2 LINETO
     -4 3 LINETO
     MOUSEPOS PENPOS
     -4 2 LINETO
     4 3 LINETO
     "" CHATSTR =
     } CHATSTR "keyword" == IF
}

In each case I just added the handler (e.g., ON OUTCHAT) portion and also
added "" CHATSTR = at the end which keeps the keyword from being shown.

There is a spot pic bot at the Scriptbarn that does that.. it will zap or
kiss a person when the command is given..  sounds like what you are looking
for...

I'm trying to figure out how to do room bots where the bot (spot) in
the room drops props onto a particular user or paints the script onto
a particular user when the user triggers the script by saying a word
or phrase. I have tried looking at some of the scripts i'm tryiing to
use, such as the script that paints lips on another person using the
mouse position. However i want the bot to find the user and paint the
lips or drop the prop on the user instead of using the mouse
position. Can you offer advice on this? I can add the bot script into
another post if you need me to. Please let me know.

Well thank you all for your help in this matter!
Laban is working fine.  The other palaces had 'bots
off used.  I had visitors to my palace the other night
and my bot worked fine.  Thanks for your replies.'

Easy way to tell if bots are allowed as it is called aka borgs is if you don
your on enter av on enter borgs will work and that is all the bot is are
allowed--anther easy way is to drop a piece of a prop in room and say clean.
