Hello everyone!

If you need a legitimate Palace registration code, just point your favourite Web browser to http://register.visualcommunities.com/
and you will be forwarded to http://www.thepalace.com:8000/perl/register.pl?Source=R74YT93A where you can sign up! It's just a much shorter, easier to remember URL. And if Communities.Com decides to change the Source=R74YT93A then I can just update my DNS file. Anyways, c-ya later! Bye! :)

You're on the right track. Holding down the Alt key with the pencil
will flood with the color selected. However holding down the ALT key
with Eraser will Flood ERASE!!

I was sure at one time, that when editing an AV with a solid
background, I was able to select the Eraser in the prop bag edit
window, then holding down the ALT key I think it was, get a fill tool
that would fill the solid colour, however now I get the fill cursor
but nothing happens. Anyone care to explain the secret to me which I
seem to have forgotten. Also anyone know of any good tutorial sites
that explain the prop bag editor? I know there are undocumented
commands for it. Some of which make things easier to do.

Subject: LVS Online Classes--Register for PSP7 Courses!!! Excellent!! Fun!!!
beisnerco@...
Send Email Send Email

For all those artists out there in PalaceSpace:

It's a little late, but still not too late to check this out. The last
couple of months I've taken a very fun course on at LVS Online Classes:
Intro to the New PSP7!! It was called "PSP7--Getting Started".

While very basic, and despite the fact I've been using PSP for several
years, I did find some techniques and hints new to me. The cost is
nominal--$15 per course ($12 for returning). Courses are 6 weeks long.
You're given an assignment on their website, have all week to work on
it, then upload your results on your own website.

For those who might like to see what I did this last course and get a
better idea of what I'm talking about, you can go to (my webdesign
evolved over a few weeks):
       http://members.nbci.com/barbeisner/index.html

There is also a mailing list that gives you an opportunity to have
discussion with the other students, plus an online IRC session every
week. (I know, I know--why not Palace? LOL)

I've already signed up for the next PSP7 course, "Exploring Features" ,
and "Filters Frenzy" and am thoroughly looking forward to it.

Hope to see some of you there!

--Barbara

P.S. Scroll down--the PSP classes are towards the bottom. Also, there
are still classes for PSP6.

Instructor: "Web Site" Mike

Let's see - You've learned HTML, as well as become fairly proficient
with the image editor of your choice and you have succeeded in obtaining
a few clients. Now what? How about building a virtual community. What
are your interests? Dogs? Cats? Mice? Computers? It really doesn't
matter, as long as you have an interest! Odds are, there are hundreds -

it or explore it. This is where the virtual community comes in to play.

have a good working knowledge of HTML coding. Experience with Telnet or
completion of the "How to Use Telnet" tutorial is critical.

**Server space for 12 weeks (6 weeks worth of class time + 6 additional
weeks to give you time to play) is included with the price of this
course. The instructor will have access to your site during this time

Ok, everybody!! Listen Up!! Please!!!!

I remember honestly typing the name "Elysium" originally!! I do know
the difference and what the allusion would be to if I had typed
"Alyssum".

Near as I can figure, when I ran the Spell Checker in Outlook Express,
it didn't recognize "Elysium" and without thinking or my finger slipped,
I must have clicked on the correction button. Honestly!!! A gal tries
to do some good around here and all that happens she is picked upon!
(boo hoo!)

Now for the heck of it, I'm going to run the spell checker, BUT this
time I will pay attention!

Meanwhile, do come to Colorado and see my new room pic --"Phoenix
Rising" (be ready for a surprise), select some ribbons, THEN let me know
what you think of the picture I spent all night on!! Geeez!!! *Sigh*

Ok, happy now??
[Big Grin!!! Now come and get them at:

For those of you who would like to have some sort of Memorial Ribbons
for your website, your palace or as props, I've just finished making a
whole batch of them! Three jpeg files full of ribbons for you to do
with as you please!

I used the same bluish weave pattern from the Palace Tools logo as the
pattern/texture for the ribbons. There are all shapes and sizes!
Against white or black, with or without drop shadows. Even a few
buttons already made. There are even a few that have that little gold
palace on them.

Within the next couple of days I hope to have some of the ribbons in a
prop dispenser in Barbara's Colorado:
               216.112.86.172:9998

The URL's for the files are:

Thanks for your quick reply.  It's refreshing to know it isn't just me (though disheartening to learn others are suffering the same fate).

The pix download properly and to the correct folder.  It isn't about that.  I've checked it.  I suppose what I really need is an older version of the client software (hint...hint).  If anyone out there has the downloaded version (pc) for prior versions of the client, please contact me at tropics@... and we'll work something out.  Thanks !!

It appears the Mac AND PC versions in the latest version have this problem.
There are users of both complaining of the same problems.

It appears after a couple attempts, the pic eventually shows up.  This may
take a few room entries and a couple reboots, but eventually it does happen.

So far, nobody has found the problem and/or provided a fix for it.  But I'm
sure that is not what you wanted to hear.

The only other option is to have them email, ICQ or otherwise get the pics
to you and manually place them in the appropriate folder.

I'm one of the original Palace Pioneers.  I've built a dozen of them or more.  For reasons that don't matter here, I've been gone from the Palace community for about a year and a half.  Urged by a neighbor who wants to build her own palace and wants me to help her, I re-downloaded all the software before CC (communists.com) pulled the plug on everyone for their comic book website.  Burned onto a CD-ROM eternally, etc.  Okay ... that said ...

After re-installing both the client and the server software, I have great difficulties downloading room pix.  It doesn't matter whether it's my own server or someone else's.  The problem is maddening.  I have to wonder what changes occurred in normal protocols in that year and a half away from Palace.  Finding the *.pdf manuals was impossible.  I suppose I could have saved every single page of every single online manual but I didn't want to spend hours doing all that.  So, I have no manuals ... either for the client or the server.  Oh well, it's not like I haven't had to wing it here before.

Anyway, back to the issue at hand.  I never had this problem with older versions of the client software ... only the current version.  The only way that I can "draw" the room screen is to use the arrow keys to move my avatar back and forth across the room.  I don't know everything but I do know that this is just plain wrong.

Has anyone ever heard of this before?  Was my Dell taken over by aliens?  Is George W. responsible?  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?  I'd like to help my neighbor to build her palace but I can't if I can't even see the room pix.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

We are always adding new AV's.
We are a "fantasy" or "midieval" theme.
We are not a "prop palace" but we have a decent selection. And we have a
talented group making props.

During this weekend of palace hopping, my friends and
I discovered that there are many talented av artists
out there just waiting to be discovered!!!

I realized with all the links/directories I have seen,
no one has put together a "Shopaholics" directory for
those of us addicted to custom avs, or when you are
looking for that "something special".

Sooooooooooooo...what I am looking for is to see if we
can put one together! Any volunteers??

Also if your palace features originals/custom/unique
avs....drop me an email with a brief (emphasis on
brief) explanation of what you have.

Hi de hi

Sorry to be the party pooper but distributing Palace files is illegal, it will only get the owner of this list into trouble. I know it seems logical to put both palace clients up there but you can download them legally from:

Windows:
http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10060-101-2529311.html

Mac:
http://download.tucows.com/perl/Mac.html?Target=/adnload/2209_16335.html

so no reason yet to get anybody into trouble over this :)

Sorry, but he's right Bond.  CC has said that anyone caught doing what you just did, will be prosecuted by them.  If I were you, Id get that off of there as fast as I could and just direct people to the "legal" site that CC allowed to download the client from.  There are people around and on lists that will turn you in for this.  Just trying to protect your butt.

PS - Bubbles are only for tourists?  That mean that the natives dont take bubble baths?  ;-)

Actually Communities gave them and only them permission to distribute the client software, if you like to know more please read up on Palacetools.com, sing up for the mailinglist and check the 5000 mails we have on this subject, official ones fom Communities and unofficial ones from legal experts. (and yes i read everyone of them)

But thats all besides the point, youre only causing trouble for another palace user.

have fun

maart...

p.s.

we have no bubbles here on holland, theyre for tourists.

Sorry to burt your bubble but since Communities discontinued the software, Download.com and sites like it are all distributing illegal copies, either way you get it the file is going to illegal. Enjoy!
