I kinda started and I see we sure could use Plugall Manual--so will try to
get time to dig out my text files that I made for palace rooms and the pix
and maybe get a web page fixed up for it--also peeps need to realize that
offer and scray are actually obsolete if they have plugall plugin installed
and they definitely should have it--it is server side and scray is dangerous
cause it is client side and can be "toyed" with awful results

Thanks, glad you liked it. Actually made the manuals thing then re-did it
all because it looked cheap. Now I don't like the rest of palaceplanet so
will redo this as well :)

!Woohoo you can log in, its AMAZING. Actually this new version of the
'content management system' is pretty good. A couple of weird HTML errors
but other then that its solid.

And yes Caracter map comes standart with windows but for some reason people
don't know what it is so don't even know they got it.

anyway, i hope you will all look around in the manuals and let me know
where we can improve

thanks!

Maarten

p.s.

palacebuilders the guide/manual has a lot of outdated links, if you know
any site or palace that might be a good example for whatever the palace
builders guide is talking about please let me know.

Hi Volunteers!

Okidoki, I guess its spring or something, here is the next old new feature:

MANUALS!

Check it out:

http://manuals.palaceplanet.net
(if our going to link please use this one, it wil always be correct)

With any luck you have time to check them out and give me some feedback on
outdated info and mistakes. I did not have enought time to read through all
of the info yet.

also will try to 'pimp' them up so they will look like more fun.

Hi Folks

Just a reminder: you signed up on this list to help out the site, please
tell us what you want to help with and what we should improve on! thanks.

The SHOP

Years ago I made a funny Palace item shop and.. well the shop is actually
still around.
but in a new design as part of the site so please check out

http://www.palaceplanet.net/shop.php

Today I made two more improvements on the site the FAQ category has its own
little logo and added the manuals buttons on the top of the FAQ main page.

Hex's script spot is back where it should be: in its own directory apart
from the main site: http://hex.palaceplanet.net

we are also working on user guides, these are the palace manuals updated
and simplified for newcomers. If anyone wants to help out please let me know?

Also would like you know your opinion on the forum:

should palaceplanet be part of its own toplist or is it unfair competition?
you can vote for this on the forum or let me know here.

have fun

Hi Volunteers!

Ok some end of the month figures for Palace Planet:

After moving to the new server and updating the website things picked up.
Perhaps because it is spring who knows.

The site referrer hit count (incoming hits from bookmarks or other sites)
For this months starting at 7th of march: 135181 hits

On the toplist Palace Planet shows
Total Hits: 10,596
Total Uniques: 3,073

I guess that means the Palace community still has a lot of active members!

Ok and now here is a little request: help people link to Palaceplanet:

In the Palaceplanet Gallery you will find a category Link Pics, its full of
silly and cute buttons to link to Palaceplanet.
http://www.palaceplanet.net/gallery.html

Look around and find one you like and if you haven't done so, please put a
link on your site and or Palace :) In the last 6 years I never asked anyone
to link to the site and its good to know people like Glide and Webdog put
me on their sites anyway and I hope you will show your support and do the
same :)

Palaceplant is the most active palace resource still around and I think we
could really do some good things for this community if we point everybody
to the same place.

thanks

Yo volunteers!

Ok two quick questions, and I would like some feedback from everybody please :)

-How is the site loading, speed fast enought for everybody?
My current host messed up about a week ago and server speeds are not up to
the old standarts. Too slow or ok?

-What is missing on Palaceplanet?
The toplist seems to be doing ok, its also fun to see how well Palaceplanet
is doing. Thousands of hits in a short time, there is a lot of life in the
Palace community but I don't think its spread out enought. We obviously
need more links to each other. Any ideas?

Hi volunteers

Ok, good news: after years of weird php code palaceplanet is finally
generating simple HTML

Downloads is not a bunhc of 45%^^&#$%$%##$%^^&*&*.php.yomomma.com

but something understandable and linkable:

http://www.palaceplanet.net/CmodsDownload.html

(will change that to downloads.html soon but .. well ened to figure out how
first :P )

Anyway, check it out! Its cool and much better for the search engines!
Let me know if you find any html problems, its new and fresh and i didn't
check ALL the links yet.

Hi there volunteers!

Ok for anyone who looked at this toplist and figured out how to put the
link on their website. In case any of you wants to help a friend get the
button installed here is some info on how too.

By the way: you can use Palace as a protocol, so a link like
palace://cadreams.superhost.com is alowed.

The toplist generates a standart button that wil work everytime someone
visits your site! Thats pretty cool, now you can look at the toplist and
see how many people come check you out.

Off course you can also put the vote button on you Palace GATE. The button
is Palace palette compatible! Put the picture and script in a door at your
gate, naturally you need to upload the picture to your Palace SERVER media
folder.

Picture link:

es/votenow.gif

Script:

ON SELECT
{"url-from-the-site" NETGOTO}

You can always get the HTML code later by following
<http://www.palaceplanet.net/toplist/index.php?do=getcode>THIS link, the
part of the code you need to put in your Palace gate or room button is this
part:

href="http://www.palaceplanet.net/toplist/index.php?do=v&i=XXX

your script will be looking something like this:

ON SELECT
{"href="http://www.palaceplanet.net/toplist/index.php?do=v&i=XXX" NETGOTO}

If you have any questions or need help please use the user question forum
on the site!

Hi

Yes it is true, this is another GET LISTED! post, actually I finally got
the Palace toplist back up after a long battle with server hosts.

Its pretty effective, sign up, upload your banner (468x60 pixels) and it
will create the HTML you need to put a link on your site. You will get a
load of nice stats from this and some good exposure. The banner I put on it
got 100 hits in only a few hours.

But its not for me, I have nothing to promote sooo get down and boogy to:

So far have only had input from one owner's attorney--and that was

personally I went with what that lawyer said until I hear from mine-who is
doing research on it. Better safe than sorry--I don't think I wanna be in

if it will include palace--whatta mess if it does-i know yahoo groups has

The statute refers to the "Producers" of the materials and their
record keeping requirements:

The statute requires producers of sexually explicit matter to maintain
certain records concerning the performers to assist in monitoring the
industry. See 18 U.S.C. 2257. The statute requires the producers of
such matter to ``ascertain, by examination of an identification
document containing such information, the performer's name and
date of birth,'' to ``ascertain any name, other than the performer's
present and correct name, ever used by the performer including
maiden name, alias, nickname, stage, or professional name,'' and to
record this information.

The record-keeping requirements apply to ``[w]hoever produces''
the material in question. 18 U.S.C. 2257(a). The statute defines
``produces'' as ``to produce, manufacture, or publish any book,
magazine, periodical, film, video tape, computer-generated image,
digital image, or picture, or other similar matter and includes the
duplication, reproduction, or reissuing of any such matter, but does
not include mere distribution or any other activity which does not
involve hiring, contracting for[,] managing, or otherwise arranging for
the participation of the performers depicted.'' 18 U.S.C. 2257(h)(3).

</snip>

So unless you are hiring, contracting, managing or otherwise
arranging for the participation of the performers, you are not
included in the law.

and here is what it says about websites:

[[Page 29622]]

     (d) A computer site or service or Web address containing a
digitally- or computer-manipulated image, digital image, or picture,
shall contain the required statement on its homepage, any known
major
entry points, or principal URL (including the principal URL of a
subdomain), or in a separate window that opens upon the viewer's
clicking a hypertext link that states, ``18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-
Keeping
Requirements Compliance Statement.''
     (e) For all other categories not otherwise mentioned in this
section, the statement is to be prominently displayed consistent with
the manner of display required for the aforementioned categories.

</snip>

The comment they made about secondary sites means the domain.
as it says, the principal entry point.

Now I am not an atty, and I don't play one on TV. But.. from what I
read, it is talking about the producers in an effort to protect children
from exploitation.

Anyone else's thoughts please?

Hi

Palace Planet survived without me the past month. It actually did pretty
good in april, back to old form almost:

Visitors in April:
11042

Pages viewed:
62780

Hits:
548403

Talked to Webdog about merging with thepalace.com because I still feel its
the most logical step. He thinks its a great idea but the people who make
the real decision seem to think its not such a grand idea. A few hosting
companies and individuals offered to take over the site. Not really looking
for people who want to help after taking over so suggested everyone to help
out as volunteer first.

Thats about it,

Maarten Toner

Hi Sue

thanks for your reply, and your right I'll just have to have faith in you
guys and let it happen :)

One of the first things I tried months ago was to get a mail 2 forum plugin
to work, this would email any forum post to the list. Sadly I never got it
to work, it would have been the perfect solution.

I have to check it out in the future when I have some spare time.

have fun

Maarten

I tried to go on and look every day to see if there were any I could
answer. You got to the auto wiz up program one before I could. And
same with the last 2. I even went on and checked last night before
bed and those 2 weren't there yet. Keep in mind too there are some
that I won't be able to answer, because of the computer platform
issue - I use a Mac and am not familiar with PC problems, but I'll
help when I can.

So my personal answer to your question is yes, I'm sure between all
of us we can handle the questions. You just have to have faith in us
and be patient. Probably none of us hang out waiting to answer
questions, but check when we can. Hm, and this is just a thought -
most of us are more familiar with handling questions via these mail
lists and most of us check our email religiously. Can you possibly
set it up where this list gets the new questions? Then we can discuss
it on here if necessary and go answer.

Thanks,
Sue

Oh crap here we go again. This is the same bullshit that happened with the
last Palaceplanet volunteer list: nobody did a bloody thing except use it
as another list to selfpromote.

This is NOT another spamm list if your signed up here its because you
volunteered to help with a website where you can promote stuff like this.

Unsubscribe or do what you signed up for.

Hi Guys

Before I go riding off into the sunset here are a few guidelines for
everybody who volunteered and moderate forums:

- Make sure people post in the right Forum

Every forum has a small text that explains its purpose, please make sure
you know what it is for the forums you moderate.
Example: If someone asks for scripting help in the Palace server Script
forum, move the post to scripting help.

- the Forum is not a chat

Please don't post any "oh yeah good idea" or "I knew that" unless your just
ranting :P The less useless info people have to read the more effective the
site will be :)

- Keep things on PalacePlanet if possible

Because forums posts work as an archive the best way to guarantee your info
is correct for a long time is to use Palace Planet information if
available. This will have several advantages for the user: They will know
where to come for information and they can point friends to the site
without being specific. And yes it is also the keep PalacePlanet in
business because the people we help today can be the next batch of
volunteers in the future.
Example: Don't point to Palacetools or some other site for downloads and
directory because we got it on Palaceplanet. They can get exactly the same
stuff here.

- Please don't plug your own stuff when answering questions.

We are or where all involved in other stuff and its not just bad taste to
plug your own stuff it also does not help anyone. You can plug your own
things as much as you want by using the events calender, submit news
stories and post as seperate forum topics. But using a user asking for
help, please don't use this to promte your own stuff. Many of us have
worked for or owned some sort of hosting, it undermines the prupose of the
site if you abuse this because it will make helping palaceplanet a
political issue and not a community one. Example: A woman posted something
a while back saying "Poor Jimmy is going blind and loosing his hosting
because of it.... So please come to me I will help you out" That post got
removed because it is shameless and in really bad taste.

- Check the facts

Palace Planet is suppose to be there for the long run so make sure you
research your answers, don't give links without checking etc. Make sure you
searched the forums for a solution. This is another reason to keep it on
PalacePlanet: We know it will be there for as long as your answer will be
around (ok now I'm confusing myself?!?!).

- Not on the site?

Something not on the site we should have on Palace Planet? Please let me
know or work on a way to add this info yourself: Links can be submitted,
news is easy to submit as well and the forum is open for anyone to add
stuff. Or just request admin rights to work on a manual section :P

-KNOW THE SITE!

This is important, Palace Planet has loads of information, please look
around and see whats out there. Many questions have been answered, many
answers are still there for you to pick up. I don't expect you to read all
the manuals but make sure you look around on this site. Its a lot of work
to figure out whats all there and get up to speed so just imagine this: I
had to research it all and put it there, except offcourse for the
Palacebuilders, netiquette and kids online safety made by Tristan and Iby.

So good luck and remember, nobody has to jump in and spend the next 5 years
online but you signed up on this list as volunteer so I do expect you to
come check out the site when you have time and and help out anyway you can.

And remember this: I was never an expert in any field, just some geekboy
who decided to help people solve problems and put all Palace knowledge in
one place (long way to go with that one.. oh well). It is not a issue of
knowing all, its a question of wanting to help out. All you need to do is
the work: Find out where the info is and to put it online.

good luck

Maarten

Hi de hi

On easter Palace Planet is not just celebrating rabbits with eggs BUT! We
just hit 8000 on the member count.

Member 8000 is called Uncle Buck, you can help us celebrate here:

http://www.palaceplanet.net

and write something nice in the guestbook :)

We are still looking for volunteers to help out with user questions, if you
have time please pop in and see if you can help answer some posts on the
forums.

Here is what a member has to say about Palace Planet:

Centralized Everything To Do With Palace
Scripts?
You can add them and You can take them!!!
Which means you can store your scripts easily
and other people can you them!
At the same time use the same scripts
over and over again
-------------------------------------------------
Easy little e-mail account. Do Most people realize that?
Probley not. But you can privately contact anyone on the site!!
-----------------------------------------------
Easy to show off ur latest projects!!
And Palaces at the same time get
help with them!!
-------------------------------------------------
Manuals? Dont know how to do something
complicated. There is probley a manual for
it!
------------------------------------------------
Easy downloads!!! And a spiffy new palace
client
-----------------------------------------------
Them are just the things I think could appeal to
anyone! there is so much more.
--------------------------------------------
SO STAY ACTIVE TELL UR FRIENDS,
keep palace planet going for another 5
years!

have fun

Maarten
