Oh yes, I do run my wireless system not only password protected, but MAC
locked. Aircrack and the like make only passwords merely deterrents
from wardrivers. I think what's really needed is for me to grab one of
the third party BIOS flashes for the NAS, as I'm frankly not sure if the
stock wireless settings available for the thing will "talk" to the
settings I'm running on the current router. What I think I'll end up
doing is just grabbing one of the laptops and the NAS and sitting at the
dining room table for a couple more hours someday soon.
The NAS is a DLink DSM G-600 Rev B1, and the new router's a Belkin
F5D8235-4 gigabit N+ router. If all else fails, at some point I'll just
put a larger laptop drive in one of the external cases I've picked up
every time I've upgraded a laptop drive, (i.e. laptop comes with 120
gig 5400 RPM drive, I buy a 180 gig 7200 rpm drive, and throw the stock
drive in an external case) and hook it up to the NAS port on the router.
It's more a question of cheaper storage space right now, as the DLink
NAS uses PATA drives, and has a 500 gig in it now. The biggest laptop
drive I have at the moment is in my Asus g50 VT laptop, it's a 240 gig I
think. <drool> Thinking about maybe Christmas time grabbing an SSD for
it </drool>
