Re: [panoheads] Toronto meeting and my new motorized pano machine
I will make an XP/Vista version in the near future. A Java version is in the works, which should extend the base to hundreds of models of cell phones. And there are plans for making versions for other cell phone operating systems, such as Symbian and Palm OS. The most frequent request I get is for an iPhone version, but Apple has yet to release the API for using the Bluetooth radio. I also get requests for an OSX version and it is on my long-term list.
Yuv, I will take your suggestion under consideration. As it stands, I provide a way to upload new firmware by sending a stream of data from the hand-held. So it would not surprise me if a clever hacker figured out the format of the data stream and started uploading their own. But there are warranty issues to consider when someone is running non-authorized code. That is, I can't be responsible for ways in which someone reprograms the unit and thereby causes damage to the unit.
And remember that the machine is already programmable through the custom programming feature and there really isn't much you can't accomplish through that feature.

+1!
and if there was a possibility to give hacker access to re-program the
firmware and get rid of the WindowsCE dependecy, I'd be even more
interested.
If there is interest, I can show how to make and play a VR on cell
phones - completely free!
