If you scroll down to the bottom of the message and click on the link to Photo, it will take you to the photos page. In the upper right corner is a link that says "Add Photo". I'm assuming that you just click on that and upload the photo.

Garrie, first let me congratulate you on your cultural practices.Getting them to flower each year. I also grow Parvi's. Flourescents and cool.My problem is low winter humidity. 10-20%. I yet to flower an Armeniacum. Jim
Well I wish I could take credit for my results, Im rather new to Paphs, and I have had these plants for going on 4 years now, bought them in bloom and they have continued to bloom each year with very little effort on my part and essentially NO fertilizer applications, (Im a bit overly concerned about using any fertilizers aside from the occasional dip in a weak water soluble) But these have continued to thrive with new growth continuously and blooms annually. I may not be doing much but apparently it is at least sufficient to maintain the plants in reasonable health.
I am attaching a few photos of the group that I have, those in bloom are of course crosses, the species flowered about 3 weeks earlier.
I'm a paph beginner and wondered where everybody was!
The few times I've tried paphs, I never seem to get another bloom. :-( Other
than appropriate watering and lighting, what other factors favor flowering
in the Maudiae types of paphs? A note on lighting, I only *have* south
facing windows to work with, but have my paphs about 18" back from the
window and to the side. Footcandle-wise, this seems to be appropriate (a
meter told me so. :). But does that work for people here?

I checked my newer delenatii plant out and it seems to be growing fine - but no flowers since I bought the thing maybe 3 years ago? Well, paphs have taught me to be very patient.
So I do try to be patient with my slippers - but this year, I finally flowered Paph Wossner Kolosuk (after many years of waiting, and last year it blasted it's inflorescence) . I have to say it's one of the ugliest paphs I have ever, ever seen. So much for patience. It's going on the silent auction table at the next orchid society meeting! And if I don't get a bid on it, it's on the raffle table!

It's good to see I am not the only one battle, Im moving from one house to another as soon as I settle in and get my perfect house I am sure things wil turn.
Thanks for all the advice on growing Paph delanatii. It sounds so easy. I've managed to kill all three of the delenatiis I've tried, along with quite a few others. Now I'm inspired to try to kill another one. <grin>
I definitely do better with hybrids and seem to have particularly good luck with the parvisepalum hybrids I've tried -- the Norito Hasagawa I posted the picture of, Armeni White, a Magic Lantern which has reliably bloomed every other year several times and which could be the start of a colony they are so beautiful, and several others. My new Gold Dollar (armeniacum x primulinum) is spiking so I'm excited to see what it is like.
The only species I've reliably grown are niveum -- a nice round white blob in my photos -- and concolor. Last year it bloomed with three flowers and two buds to open before it was damaged at a show. I "rescued" this plant from a flower shop and it has done extremely well under my conditions. I grow under lights in my extra bedroom. (It used to be a bedroom anyway.)
After I discovered that henryanum and barbigerum like a very dry winter before being resuscitated in the spring they have done much better. I haven't had a bloom off my armeniacum or phillipinese but the plants haven't died and are bigger than they used to be.
Thanks again for the input from everyone on delenatii. I need another orchid.

Nice surprise to see some activity in the group. I thought it was one of those that quietly faded away.
Here are a couple of mine that are in bloom now. The Norito Hasagawa is a first bloom seedling. The venustum x primulinum cross has bloomed a couple of times, and it looks like it has a few more flowers each time as the plant matures.
My favorite is Paph niveum, also in bloom now, but of course is one of the more difficult for me to photograph because of the lack of contrast between parts. I have had theat problem with several blooms -- everything is in focus but it looks like a round white blur. Or yellow, or red or wh
atever color.
Maybe this will add some activity to the group and keep it going.

Thanks for the information about re-potting frequency. That's a help. Most of mine are pretty small at this time so I'll just let them grow awhile.
Do you belong to the Acadiana Orchid Society? The Baton Rouge 30th annual Show and Sale is coming up on July 11 and 12. I'd like to invite you to come if you can. Don't know if I'll make it to the Acadiana Show next weekend.

Hi All,

Gerrie, do you re-pot your paphs frequently? I've been told both that they like frequent re-potting and that they don't. I don't know which to believe.
I'm in Louisiana too - Baton Rouge. Where are
you?

No I dont repot often and they have done very well, I have not lost a single plant and I bought quite a few several years ago, most have not been repotted, larger ones I moved up but not by much.
I live in Franklin, but teach at UL in Lafayette (Botany) and keep the orchids in the Univ Greenhouse.
being in Louisiana where it is always warm and down right very hot
from June through Sept. I was very afraid to try this species. But
they have survived, bloomed repeatedly and grown rather well. Mine are
in a very HOT house in the summer, temps in the mid to high 90s, but I
do keep lots of air movement with fans, and never let them dry out for
long, though I do all more drying in winter time when its cooler. It
must be very adaptable if I can grow it under such extreme conditions.
I live in northwest Illinois and grow several clones of paph. delenatii
that
bloom regularly in the spring...usually March. My potting medium consists
of medium fir bark, large perlite, medium charcoal and oyster shell
chips...all these are in equal parts. I also let the plants dry thoroughly
between waterings and keep them somewhat drier in the winter...and also
cooler. I grow in a greenhouse with winter temps in low 50's and low 70's
during the day. During the summer I grow as low as possible during the
night and try to keep the temps below 90 during the day. I do not have an
evaporative cooler but do have a misting system that goes on when the
humidity drops below 50%. I hope this helps.

I have less luck with delenatii than you do for some reason. Some of the crosses flower fine for me, but delenatii itself is reluctant. Do you use a potting mix with some sphagnum in it? Just curious
yes sort of, mostly fir bark but some sphagnum and large perlite in small pots. I have kept them on the moist side. When I purchased them their pots were covered in green living mosses, and though those mosses have died, I have kept them on the moist side never intentionally letting they go dry for any length of time.
Hi Garry -
I have less luck with delenatii than you do for some reason. Some of
the crosses flower fine for me, but delenatii itself is reluctant. Do
you use a potting mix with some sphagnum in it? Just curious.
