Hi Chuck,

We haven't heard of any problems on Oracle 8.0.4, yet. We are planning on going
live on 7.5 in September.

Would you consider a piece of 'middleware' (a tool either developed inside
OR outside of PS) to put the data in the format required by the cool org
tool?

Hey Bryan,

What we are looking for is a tool that can either extract or work off of an
extract of PeopleSoft data that doesn't require a lot of manipulation once
the
chart is created.

Thanks for the reply!

Welcome to your PeopleSoft eGroup. We've had such a huge response over the
last few weeks I thought I'd share some information for those who missed our
original posts.

First, I suggest that everyone register with eGroups to have access to all
of the functions tied to our eGroup. This includes Chat, Calendar of Events
and more. You can also read the messages of the group online - a great way
to catch up on messages posted before you joined. It's also a good way to
handle email during your vacation. If you don't want it piling up while you
spend a month in France, just go to eGroups.com and change your preferred
method of subscription to Web. Email will stop and you can read posts at
your leisure.

Bryan,

All benefits are based on the Service Date in PS_EMPLOYMENT. ie: Leave
Accruals, 401K Matching, etc.

Isn't there a calc in BenAdmin that handles the typical thing called
'service_date'? What I mean is that date which reflects a benefits
hire_date. It handles bridged time, hire/term/rehire events, etc. Thus a
person hired 1/1/97, termed 12/30/97, rehired 1/1/98 would have a service
date of 1/2/97. This is often kept as a time_worked field rather than a
date. Same thing as far as I'm concerned, but I can't find it in PS!

Bryan,

I believe that what you want is on the employment panel in 6.xx or on the
employment data in 7.5. I don't know that it calculates automatically when
people leave and return, but you can override as necessary. I am sure that
your programmers can write a program to update automatically if your volume
warrants.

We run batch MVS Peoplesoft SQR's that sometimes abend due to an SQR statment
error. When this happens, it does not set an MVS condtion code so MVS thinks
the job has ended with a 000 condtion code which then leads to the scheduler
kicking off the next job.

Anyway, is there an easy way for the SQR to return a condition code when the job
finshes abnormally ?

the date you are thinking of is employment.service_dt (on the employment
record). note that this date is not calculated in anyway - it pretty much is

how the customer defines it. so, maintenance would be manual; or, you could
create an sqr or peoplecode to read through the job stack and calculate the
date according to specific job.empl_status(s). this date is used in benadmin
eligibility checking.

let me know if you need more clarification!

Greetings -

I would be curious to find out how companies have setup Domestic Partner Life
Insurance with an age-graded rate.

The problem arises that age based on Spouse's Age (via the Calc Rules) looks
specifically for a Spouse and not a Domestic Partner.

The only way to utilize Dependent Age Source in the calc rules is to setup the
Plan Type as a 'sum of dependent coverage' - which is not an option.

Has anyone else run across this issue?

Base Benefits v7.5

Thanks!

Are you sure that you are checking the 'Always recreate' option before you
build the sql scripts? Secondly, you shouldn't run .sql scripts from
datamover. If you are on Oracle, run the sql scripts in SQL*Plus. Just
type '@c:\temp\psbuild.sql' at the slq> prompt and it will execute the
build.

We are in process of installing People Soft ver7.0 . A couple of
road blocks -

	 1. Following the instructions in Installation and Administration for
Oracle
	 Manual , Step 5.17 ( For Unix Installation ) sub step 5 and 6
suggests to
select Records and Build Project . We selected option to Build Sql
script file
. On click of Build , it processes all records and says to have
created the
final sql file in c:\windows\temp\psbuild.sql and
c:\windows\temp\psbuild.log .
But psbuild.sql file is empty and psbuild.log says that all 1046
records are
processed with no errors and psbuild.sql file is created . There is
just a
warning message in psbuild.sql file -

	 -- WARNING:
	 --
-- This script should not be run in Data Mover. It may contain
platform
-- specific syntax that Data Mover is unable to comprehend. Please
use the
-- SQL query tool included with your database engine to process this
script.
	 --

	 2. Process Scheduler requires PTPUPRCS executable File to Run .
PTPUPRCS
executable is not to be found . Is this file to be created or is
delivered .

	 Any Feedback is Appreciated .

	 Thanks

Subject: [peoplesoft-fans] Adding a new Business Unit

We have been in production for over a year now. We would like to add a new
Business Unit. Adding the B.U. is not the problem, it's everything else
that needs to change! Has anybody added a new B.U., after being in
production? If so, I'd appreciate any help, suggestions, problems, etc.
that you've run into.

Thanks,

Lisa Geissler

It sounds like you are trying to run the build script on the server, but you
don't have the process scheduler configured. The ptpuprcs file is the
executable for the process scheduler. Check on the panel where you choose
setting and see if you have a client/server option. I'm pretty sure you do.
Before you can run on the server, you will need to setup and startup your
process scheduler. The warning message in the psbuild.sql file is standard, you
will see it whenever you build SQL statements.

We are in process of installing People Soft ver7.0 . A couple of road blocks -

1. Following the instructions in Installation and Administration for Oracle
Manual , Step 5.17 ( For Unix Installation ) sub step 5 and 6 suggests to
select Records and Build Project . We selected option to Build Sql script file
. On click of Build , it processes all records and says to have created the
final sql file in c:\windows\temp\psbuild.sql and c:\windows\temp\psbuild.log .
But psbuild.sql file is empty and psbuild.log says that all 1046 records are
processed with no errors and psbuild.sql file is created . There is just a
warning message in psbuild.sql file -

-- WARNING:
--
-- This script should not be run in Data Mover. It may contain platform
-- specific syntax that Data Mover is unable to comprehend. Please use the
-- SQL query tool included with your database engine to process this script.
--

2. Process Scheduler requires PTPUPRCS executable File to Run . PTPUPRCS
executable is not to be found . Is this file to be created or is delivered .

Any Feedback is Appreciated .

Thanks

Samir Parmar.

Hi Kevin.

If you are creating new reports (specific names that you have identified) then
you need to specify the full path. If you are just creating multiple reports
(sqr is added _01, _02 to the sqr name ) then you should have the reports write
to the declared sqr directory in the process schedular.

We are on the same Peoplesoft upgrade path (6.x to 7.5) and are coming from Oracle 7.3.2.  We had initially planned to go to 8.0.4 or 8.0.5, but were warned against going there by our implementation partner.  We are currently upgraded to 7.3.4 and are planning to stay put there during our upgrade, with a migration to a 8.x Oracle product planned down the road.  If I can get info on the problems that were encountered with 8.x, I will let you know.  Please keep me informed on your progress.  When are you going live with 7.5?

Thanks,

Chuck Thresher

We will be upgrading to Oracle 8.0.4 from Oracle 7.3.3, in addition to upgrading from PeopleSoft 6 to 7.5.  Both versions will need to reside on the same Unix box (RS/6000 AIX 4.2.1), as we do not have a separate development from Production.  Production is currently PeopleSoft 6 on Oracle 7.3.3.

The Oracle listener for Oracle 7.3.3 is SQL*Net 2.3.3 and we will be using NET8 for Oracle 8.

Our DBA's have never done this before and we are wondering if there are any suggestions or warnings to accomplish this.

    Thanks,

    Jon Raymond
