On the Course Setup Table there is a page where you can attribute the course to
one or more categories/sub-categories. There is also a Catalog Organization menu
that allows you to move courses between catagories/sub-categories.

My question is, once this is all set up, where is it used within core HCM? I
can't find any place to be able to view or print a the course catalog and it
doesn't have any effect within Self Service.

I thought it might be used in Career Development or Sucession Planning but I
don't see any ties to it there either.

thanks,

Bill

Oracle makes HCM 9.1 virtual machines downloadable - no need to build it
yourself.

http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/vm/templates/peoplesoft.html

You just need to have 64 bit hardware to use that.

Hi All

I had contracted with someone to build me a personal test server, however, he is
unable to find the time to complete the task.

I am looking for someone who can build the HR/SA 9.0 and FCM Virtual 3 Tier, as
well as a HCM 9.1 Virtual 3 Tier.

The hardware has already been purchased and can be shipped immediately. (More
than adequate for the needs)

These are just test environments to play in. I am willing to compensate fairly.

Please email me directly (do not reply to all) with an hours and cost estimate.
I am looking to make a decision by the end of the weekend, ship on Monday and
get started.

Thanks!

Very good question Joe... I'm interested in the same thing, but I suspect it
will not be that easy. Installing several of those programs make sigificant
entries in the registry and none of that would take place by simply copying the
PS_HOMES... but I'll be interested to see what responses you get to your
question.

We have been a SQL Server shop for 4 years and have PeopleSoft HR and Financials
8.9.

We aren't a huge company, 2,000 employees, about 100 PeopleSoft users combined.
Our Financials DB is about 38G and HR is 4G.

We have one PeopleSoft Technical staff (me) and no DBA. Our Server Admin is a
Microsoft CSE and all DB actions are done by either him or me.

No performance issues to report, it all works.

We are trying to pass in a value from the Add Search Record so that we can have
it up front in calculating other fields. It's technically not a key, but also
rather important. We tried mading it a key on the Add Search Record, and an alt
key on the actual record.. so it shows up on the page at level 0. What it apears
is that the value gets overwritten in the component buffer during the
initialization process of the component so that we can't use it in Peoplecode.
We've tried to set the value aside as a variable or a derived field but those
gets wiped out as well. Does anyone have a any suggestions?

Basically we need a non-key value right up front of the entry of a new record
because it's used in the calculation of other fields.

Greetings,

We have a very simple server setup for PeopleSoft: 1 DB server, 1 Web server, 1

We have 4 PS_HOME's on each server.

Is it possible to take this installation and copy it en mass to an identical set

Hi All,

I have created a new message, service, service opeation, routing and node.
I am using PERSON_DATA queue to create a Asynchronous row-set based messages. I
gave the permission to my service also.

My message is getting error out and even the "view XML" link is not active.

I looked into the PSIBERR table and the following message set number and message
number in the table.
(158,10736)
it means "Integration Gateway Framework: Unable to decrypt the password for

Any idea why this is happening?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I don't see any issue with the statement.

Look into the program, there must be some other code that is causing this
problem.

If you can send me the program, I can look into that.

Hi Bill,

There is Business process HR_I9_PROCESS for this and as per business process
there is activity that sends email to I9 adminstrator.

You have to set up I9 adminstrator role.

The place where employee can go and enter the form is

Self Service --> Personal Information --> Complete and Submit I-9 Form.

I hope this helps.

Don't think anyone has answered you.  But is your $RunID defined.  Try
declaring it up front in your program.

Ruth,

We run SQL 2005. Our FMS 9.0 database is approximately 750 GB
last I knew (growing pretty fast), and our HRMS 8.9 database is
approximately 200 GB. Size shouldn't be a big deal for you
for quite some time. :) We have had some sporadic
performance issues. Keeping indexes defragged is our
biggest issue that is easily fixed.

Our HR and Fin databases are shared between the state of
ND and Higher Education within the state.

Our Student Admin database went from SQL Server to Oracle
during our upgrade from 8.0 to 9.0 last year. That was
done for performance reasons. They are happy they made that
switch. I don't know the size of the database, but they
have many more users than HR or Fin. There were table
locking issues at the core of the performance problems.

I hope that helps!

Hi Everyone,

We are on PS 9.0 SR/HR. We noticed that DDP001.SQR Version 766829 that
creates the Direct Deposit file is now reporting the new International ACH
Transaction (IAT).

We marked couple of employees as doing international direct deposit and run
DDP001. We sent the output to our bank and they tells the file is incorrect.

The IAT records are created in the middle of the PPD records which is fine, but
they should have the Header rec (5), detail recs(6) and trailer rec(8) for each
batch.
The way DDP001 is creatitng the file is
PPD (US direct deposit)
Header rec (5)
detail recs(6) and
  trailer rec(8)
IAT (International direct deposit)
Header rec (5)
  detail rec(6)
  Additional Recs(7) for IAT
So far so good.....
Then it continues with PPD
detail recs(6)
trailer rec(8)
end of file rec(9).
Before continuing with PPD again, it should have a trailer rec(8)
for IAT then a header rec(5) for PPD.

PeopleSoft is aware of the issue and this is what they say:

Note: Additional modifications to program DDP001.SQR are currently in
development to correct issues related to batch header records and the grouping
of domestic vs. international transactions within the direct deposit file. As
soon as these latest program modifications have successfully passed financial
system edits, an updated version of program DDP001.SQR will be made available by
a special posting to MetaLink 3 as Report ID 1919103000, as well as delivered in
Tax Update 09-F.

The problem is we were told we need this now.
So, I'm wondering. Has anyone fixed this issues and, if so, are you willing to
share the parts of the sqr that fixed the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rosa

Hi Ruth,

We moved to SQL Server 2000 from Informix about six years ago. Currently our
database sizes are about 60gb for FMS and 40gb for HR. We made the move because
we are a predominantly Microsoft shop and were already licensing a number of SQL
Enterprise instances.

Aside from any customizations your site may have (as mentioned in other
responses) there were essentially NO problems with the move. It was
surprisingly easy.

Performance has been fine, with most (if not all) the significant issues &
bottlenecks at the hardware level. We're still trying to work out a few kinks
here and there, and we expect some improvements for our next upgrade which will
place our FMS on SQL 2008. I'm no Microsoft zealot, but it works generally very
well for us.

In terms of longevity of Oracle's support for Microsoft, I don't see it
particularly threatened. A lot of customers use MSSQL and Oracle/PeopleSoft
continues to innovate for 2008's enhancements. One of the reasons we fled
Informix was that innovation for the platform was stagnating and until it was
purchased by IBM, PeopleSoft was making it very clear at the conferences that
they were not very interested in spending time on it. I've gotten no such vibe
from any of the SQL Server sessions I've attended over the years at conferences.

So anyway, that's my $.02. If there's anything you'd like to ask, feel free to
email me.

Let's face it, most implementations are not what they could be. In fact, most
large software implementations of any kind are not! We've been doing these sorts
of mini projects for years under various names;

Post Implementation Audit
Pre Implementation Audit
Business Process Discovery
Implementation Optimization
Implementation Assessment

Ron,

Please don't respond privately. This forum is specifically for all to be part of
the conversation and learn from one another. It is not to sell services or any
other reason. We ALL want to hear the answer.

Ruth,
       a couple of simple-minded suggestions:

a) Check around and see if you can find others running under SQL-Server with
similar sized databases. If everyone you talk to seems to be way, way smaller,
that may be a concern.

b) What do your own DBA's say about this? They may be able to offer some useful
pros and cons to each database.

c) How much customization have you done to your system? PeopleCode is relatively
portable. However, it is quite possible to code some database-specific SQL into
PeopleCode using such things as SQLExec.
Same thing for customized SQR programs.

d) What about long term support for the SQL-Server platform from
PeopleSoft/Oracle? This is a tricky one, since Oracle will not admit to
discontinuing support for any platform until the day they actually
announce it. One thing you might check is the percentage of PeopleSoft customers
that are running on SQL-Server. If it is a small percentage, that might be cause
for concern.

Hope these comments are useful.

Steve Donnelly.

The request has been made to see if moving our PeopleSoft systems from Oracle to
SQL Server is a viable option (due to the excess licensing fees for Oracle) and
I need to know if anyone has done this and how it went.

If there are sites currently using PeopleSoft on SQL Server can you please write
with any caveats, tips, or tricks.

Does it matter what size the database is? Our FMS system is 73 gig and our HCM
system is 50 gig.

Thanks very much.

If anyone is using the new I-9 functionality in 9.0 I am hopeful you can
answer the following questions:

    1. PeopleBooks refers to workflow for this functionality but does not go
into detail about it.
       A. Is the workflow delivered with this using e-mail/worklist to notify the
I-9 Administrator that a new submission has been made?
       B. When the I-9 Administrator requests the emplyoee to submit new
information is that done be e-mail?

    2. I don't see these transactions listed on the Self Service page for
configuration, so where is the config done for these workflows (FYI - I am not
technical so in Functional terms please).

  thanks in advance,

   Bill
