Well, I went to my favorite store and found 3 standalones that are divx capable, here are the candidates:

Philips dvp3254K
LG dv351
LG c251

Any of you have had experience with one of them?

Well the 5990 does have a volume control as well as a channel up/dn.
It seems to be for the TV rather than the player though. Probably
works on all Philips/Magnavox TVs. I did see a volume control in the
setup menu that works the output level from the player. More like to
set it at a matching level to other components than a regular use
volume control.
