John, I should have called you yesterday to make sure you understood the back story. I was joking around with Erik Peterson before the event that you were running late, saying that we should give you a hard time if you were late with the pizza because we've made the same jokes at other user groups when there was trouble with food. It was the same kind of humor you, Erik, and I always joke around with, and I think if Erik or I was getting the food, there would have been the same jokes. We all know we have mutual respect and are very good friends and we can joke around about stuff like that.
Unfornately, others were hearing the jokes and apparently took it to mean that you "always complained" about food being late which wasn't what I was saying and isn't the truth.
Eric was trying to be funny, based on a misunderstanding of what was basically an inside joke. I think if he could take back sending it to the public list, he probably would. I certainly don't think he meant to insult you and I think everyone in the group appreciates your efforts and G2's sponsorship.
It was a joke, that turned into a bad joke, mistakenly sent to a large group. I'm hoping we can rise above it and maintain the sense of comradery that has developed in the group. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable coming to meetings. Anyone is free to contact me or each other off-list to discuss further, because I think mailing lists are a poor means of communication for things like this.
Hi Eric,
Thanks for the apology (that you never sent) after your horribly sad and embarrassing attempt at humor. In the future, before you insult someone on a public forum, THINK!!!!! For the record, I have never complained about any food being late, and I’m confident Brian was not referring to me (and I doubt he said anything even similar about anyone!). I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the speakers, the group’s coordinators, and our sponsors. I’m a very active member (and coordinator) of the user group and work very hard with the coordinators to bring the community the great content we have been enjoying. Brian has done an incredible job bringing it all together, and we are fortunate to have him and a team of coordinators that put in quite a bit of effort behind the scenes.
So, how about stepping up to the plate not only with your public apology, but also by volunteering to be responsible for coordinating food sponsors and delivery for our monthly meetings and workshops? That would be a big help!
Best regards,
John

John,
Mr. Downey is obviously delusional after trying to digest the advanced topic last night. I certainly would have never teased our "Chief Swag Officer" about the possibility of being late with the pizza, especially after you came through with a sponsor for our meeting. Nor would I have suggested that it would be funny if we gave you a hard time if you were late. As we all know, you delivered it precisely on time, piping hot, and possibly the best pizza I've ever tasted in my entire life! :)
Eric, you might want to explain to John about your recent diagnosis of "mild hysteria" and "mailing list turrets" if you would like to keep your chances alive for winning prizes at future user group meetings. John is the guy who gets us all our good book giveaways, and besides that, he's handsome, charming, and incredibly intelligent.
Glad you enjoyed the session! :)

Hi Brian,
Excellent sesison last night. Pizza was late but other than that (kidding, kidding...I over heard you talking about the guy who was picking up the pizza always complained when it was late). Anyway, I'm looking for the source code project from last nights talk. Do you have a link to it? I went to the Phillyalt.net site but couldn't find it.
Thanx,
Eric
