Sharon I just use my scanner for manipulating photos to post on the
net. My scanner came with ArcSoft Photo Studio. I try not to
manipulate my photos if I can get away without it. I want you guys to
see what I did, not what I wish I had done. LOL Those are two very
different things for me. hehehe

Hi Beverly =0) Welcome to the group. I hope you will find something
interesting here and stick around.

I have no idea how to get your slides on your computer but I will see
if I can find an answer for you.

Hi Cheryl,
Yes I only use my digital camera right now. I have an old camera
that I used to use however I have to learn how to get Photos from
it on to the computer. I am so new at all of this. I love my new
digital camera and am experimenting with it right now. I was
delighted to find your group.

I am hoping to get to know people who can give me ideas on what to do
with the photos once I get them on disk. Ideas on what programs to
use in order to manipulate the photos for printable albums. I was
quite surprized that I didn't get a program with the camera.

Your pictures are beautiful as well.

I just added another picture to Nature folder.

Good evening!

I'm new to this list. Actually I'm not sure if this list is the right one for
me, but I'll give it a try.

I just got some old color slides that I want to get into my computer. Scanning
yields very poor results because the slides don't have light
coming through them. Does anyone here know what I need to get or do to somehow
get my slides into my computer?

Thanks!

Welcome Bill. =0) The two photos you posted are great! The lake one
is really nice with the highlight on the tree tops and the ducks on
the lake. I really love the woods one. The highlight and shadows are
beautiful and add some interest to the photo. It makes you really
want to explore the whole photo!

Thanks for posting!

Hi Sharon. Your rose photo is beautiful. The color is so vibrant!
Do you do all your photography with a digital camera? I don't have
one and have never had the opportunity to use one. I have an old
Minolta manual camera.

On saturday my photography club is having a field trip. Should be
interesting and then I will have some new stuff to post.

I have posted two photos in the Fall Follies album. This is the
first time that I have posted a message either in the group or the
Photography Beginners club. I am a 32 year old lawyer living in New
York City and I took up photography in November of last year when my
then-girlfriend, now wife, bought me a digital camera for my
birthday. I look forward to seeing everyone's photos and picking up
information on technique that anyone is willing to share.

am to Photography. I am using a Sony digital. I need all the help
I can get.

Your flower photos are beautiful! I noticed the resolution is
different on yours than mine. I am going to try to change that.

Brian thanks for your offer to critique my work. I am open to all
kinds of suggestions. I really am very new at this!

I think this is going to be an interesting and fun group!

Hi Brian =0) Well , I like to take black & white photos. I shoot
almost anything....people, animals, landscapes...whatever catches my
eye. I use a manual Minolta camera that was given to me as a gift
from a friend. It's old and used but wonderful!
I am taking darkroom instruction and I develope and print my own
film. It's very cool!

LOL i think everyone is new, and the group itself is barely a month
old I think :) anyway, welcome to all and good to see a fellow Mavica
fan out there ;) I think most would argue that conventional cameras
take higher quality pictures (because they do), but I have several
thousand pictures of my daughter, my cars, places, people, and
whatever else, and they all fit neatly into a hard drive the size of
a small paperback :) digital cameras are not for "professionals", but
in their niche, they are awesome. Anyway, got a little off track
there lol, I really just meant to say hello to all, and welcome to
the group.

I am new to this group and photography and I'm looking
for an older version of a camera. I want one with a
film advance lever and shutter speed knob. I have a Minolta,
but it's kinda new and I can't do as much with it as I can
an older camera. If you have one you don't want, or will
sell to me or will even consider trading it with something
of mine, please let me know.

Thanks,
Heather

Hi Laura:

I'm new too...I got my minolta qsti AF/Manual camera for Mothersday last year.  I'm thinking it's a great starter camera...but I can learn nothing about fstops? and such.  I have a ton of pictures of my kids and family.  I too would like to learn how to take better photos.  I think a lot of mine turn out great...but I have a tendancy to put everything right in the center....I am getting better though.  I am looking forward to learning from this group.  I am very excited about other people helping me learn what I do wrong (or right, whichever the case may be).

Have a great Day

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the group today.  I have only a little photography
knowledge in my large stack of pictures of my plants and dogs.

I have taken a b&w photography class at the comm college.  Thoroughly
enjoyed it, but have forgotten everything that I didn't really ever
understand.

I'm looking for help to become a better picture taker, using my
Cannon manual / automatic camera.  Any links to websites would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

Laura

I just found this group...but it doesn't look like it's been here
long. I am new to photography. Started because I like to scrapbook,
which means they kind of go hand in hand. I finally purchased a
camera that takes excellent photos...(I mostly take them of my kids.)
I am trying my hand at some "scenery" photos as I call them, I guess
you would call them landscapes....this tells you how new I am.....I
would be greatly interested in what looks to be the photo assingments
and just sharing in general for feedback. Can anyone upload here or
do for specific assignments?
My first "real" camera is a Minolta QSTI. I have a 28-75 lens and a
75-300 lens. I know...it's an automatic camera...but it does have a
manual override, I just can't assign fstops and such. Once I get
better at taking the photos I plan on getting more technical. I tend
to center everything....lol.
I look forward to meeting you all

Have a great day.
Angi

I bought a Sony digital Mavica MVC-FD73 about a year ago. I
love my new camera and have taken numerous pictures. Some are
good and some aren't (at least that is what I think). I will post
some and hope some of you will let me know how I am doing.
I think this is going to an intersting and fun group.
Also good luck to you John in all of your future endeavors.

Haven't checked the board or my mail in a week, but just in case, I
am in the Army, so I may just drop off the boards indefinetely in the
near future. I encourage you all to move on though, as a society i
think the moment of silence has been more than enough (being a week
long moment in a way) The next step will be to go ensure it doesn't
happen again, which is my department... wish us luck and prayers
all, because we (the military) will be going to teach some people a
few lessons and probably hurt some feelings in the process, but hey,
NOBODY comes into our backyard pulling that kind of s**t.

This morning at 8:45 two planes flew directly into the World Trade Center
Twin towers. One plane stricking each tower.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD!!!! God!

Say a prayer for all these people who were in the buildings and possibly
passengers on the planes. I can't believe this.

I'm digging around in all my pictures on y hard drive and thinking to
myself "I wonder if these are any good as photos?" so I dug around
and found the club, seen the recent post to form a new group, and
voila! here I am :) I am military and travel a bit, and I have a
Sony Mavica (digital, if you think digital isn't real photography,
then check em out at geocities.com/mavicapics, I put up the page
today, any comments are more than welcome, and there are around 2500
or so pictures on my hard drive (that's a guess, who would bother
counting em) although most are pictures of my daughter.
