An explosive and hybrid history play of modern-mythic proportions, evoking
sex icon Jenna Jameson, the first pornstar to own her own image, and
fair-weather terrorist Patty Hearst, the first Cali-Heiress to blow away
hers – kidnapped, converted, and packing heat. The Late Education of Sasha
Wolff explores the familiar angst of post-democratic impotence and a media
circus that steals, shakes and breaks our self-images every chance it gets.

Looking Back

interview<http://www.breedingground.com/festival/07artists/Ficklin.php>
*Looking Back * is a trilogy of three short operas, each exploring, in a
different way, the theme of loss and how we do, and do not, deal with it. *
Anniversary* : Claire waits at the cafe where, a year ago, she first met
Michael. In a moment of passion they made a vow to reunite there every year,
regardless of what might happen between them. *The Painter*: Hugo is a
talented young artist whose wife is murdered. Driven insane by guilt and
grief, he starts to see his paintings come to life around him--and start
telling him what he should do to avenge her. *Looking Back*: Charley and
Hugo have the perfect life, until Michael, the dead ex-boyfriend pays a
surprise visit after a botched séance led by an inebriated medium. Any
resemblance to Noel Coward's *Blithe Spirit * is entirely intentional.

On a quest to recover her identity, an amnesiac TV junky running a freakish
temperature channel surfs a crumbling reality. The Media has invaded her
living room, and from her couch she battles wayward advertisements,
challenges a conquest-bent videogame jockey and his warrior avatar, and
falls in love with an ancient sex goddess. Faced with a world more super
than natural, she must confront the impossible truth waiting at the end of
her journey: that she herself may be the strangest fiction of all.

*MICHAEL FELDMAN*
*MuscleBound*
$5
watch the
interview<http://www.breedingground.com/festival/07artists/Feldman.php>
*MuscleBound * is a candid journey of motivation, determination,
sacrifice, and loss as we follow the life of Nick Gallo on a downward spiral
over the course of one year. Nick is a newly married documentary filmmaker
who fanatically makes a documentary on male body image issues by diving into
the gym culture. Throughout the piece, the question of "how far would you go
to get the body you've always dreamed of?" is constantly posed. Projection
is used throughout the show to reveal Nick's filmed documentary. The footage
depicts real interviews that the playwright captured first-hand of men
openly discussing their thoughts on their bodies. As the documentary
unfolds, Nick's perceptions of himself and the characters around him come to
life.
A workshop of *MuscleBound* will be presented as part of the SFF07
Groundwork series.

*More starving artists than you can shake a chicken bone at.*
--Time Out NY
*The breedingground collective is behind this ... it's only five years old
and clearly has energy and creativity to burn.
*--The Gothamist
*The energy and the attitudes at the festival felt great to me: I encourage
everyone to take in this show or any of the others for a look at some of the
adventurous new theatre happening at the edges of downtown's creative scene.

*Spring Fever brings artists together ... Park Slope producers have created
a "Spring Fever" that may prove to be contagious among fiscally challenged
arts groups.
