*Call for Submissions*
Studio 42 is a not-for-profit production company dedicated to supporting New
York City's emerging artists, creating new work for the stage and producing
theatrical experiences for the contemporary audience.
We are currently seeking submissions for development through our 2007-2008
season.
Studio 42 provides emerging artists with a multi-tiered development and
presentation forum. Over the past 5 years, Studio 42 has established
numerous partnerships with writers, directors, performers, designers and
other theater artists and provided resources to help them create honest and
challenging work. An arsenal of established programming -including our
"Trials and Errors" reading series; "Studio Sessions," a multi-medium
performance series; and "The Scattered Festival," a week-long series of
workshop productions - combined with customized development strategies,
enables Studio 42 to assist in the development of varied works from concept
to full production.
This past season, Studio 42 produced the world premiere of Laura Von Holt's
*Giants*. Giants was developed by Ms. Von Holt in conjunction with Studio
42 over the past year through a series of readings, workshops, and
dramaturgical revisions leading to production.
Of *Giants*, The Village Voice said:
"…Von Holt's writing is impressively disciplined and measured. Her total
commitment to her idiosyncratic fantasy-genre vision and invented language
is matched by Jen Wineman's understated direction….the poetic voice is
original and refreshingly pop-culture-free. Whimsical without winking,
Giants may be the most charming end-of-the-world story around."
Interested playwrights should submit their bio and a logline for original
works to: *Michael@...* <Michael@...>
