WOW. There's a blast from my past. Royston sent us to see a couple of their
productions in my first and second years. No clue where to start looking for
her, but a Google search brought up the names of her old compatriots at Tiny
Mythic -Kristen Marting, Francine Z. and Tim Maner. Marting currently runs
HERE, which might be a good place to start.

I thought her name is/was Kristin Marting... and when last I knew (as
of 2002 or so) she was artistic director of HERE, the space/company
formed by the merger of Tiny Mythic and the Home for Contemporary Art.
The guy who dropped off the radar (as far as I knew) was her Tiny
Mythic co-founder, Tim Maner.
I'll never forget being required to see Tiny Mythic shows at the Ohio
Theatre as part of our freshmen requirements back when PHTS was still
on 42nd Street... shows such as "A Brief Architectual History of the
American Closet, Part 1: a queer white male perspective."

Hey everybody,
I'm looking for a PHTS Alum from the class of probably '88 or '89. Her
name is Kristin Ames. She was a founding member of Tiny Mythic Theatre
Company and she left New York....gosh, I don't know a while ago, many
years. I found some listings on the internet saying that she was
working for the Aspen Comedy Festival but no specific way to contact her.
Kristie is a great director and a fantastic human being and I'd really
like to get in touch with her and ask her a couple of questions. If
anyone knows where I might contact her or is willing to pass her my
e-mail address (kbrob@...) I would be extremely grateful.
Hope this finds everyone well!
Thanks,
Kizzy

I loved landscape photography very much but my landscapes were always
boring flat lines, glorious and beautiful flowers in my garden lacked
the spectacular detail they had in real life, night time shots were
always blurry, never getting the sharpness or quality I wanted,
action shots were just as bad and out of focus all the time. The
people shots I took didn't come anywhere near reflecting the
loveliness gentleness of the person, my people photos didn't do
people justice at all. They looked fake and unnatural. And my indoor
shots were always annoyingly dark, even with the flash on and my
photos never had the clarity, sharpness or awesome feeling I
wanted....it was one disappointing shot after another.
I felt really frustrated disappointed because I was SO passionate
about photography, and especially since I bought my new digital
camera, I wanted to learn all that was possible to learn.
Then one day, it happened. I actually got a photo I was trying to get
for years....there it was; a perfect shot.
I remember that day so clearly. It was about six years ago. I was
driving the car to a beautiful little mountain town, with tall trees,
lush green rolling hills, birds of all varieties, and running streams
and water falls. Driving into this town there was the most
magnificent landscape.....
And then I discovered how to keep improving. The best thing was that
through determination I became really skilled in photography in such
a short amount of time. And from there things just got better and
better, and my photos went from be absolute rubbish to beautiful
works of art.

Hey folks!
Janine Vanderhoff Orange Group '98 here. Since having decided to come
off the road (I had been PSM-ing national tours for about six years),
I've been working at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center as one of
the Production Managers for over a year now. Work here doesn't keep
me near as busy as when I was on the road, so I turned what was a
hobby into a little business that might work for some of you other
theatre folks out there.
I'm working for Luxe Jewels as a Consultant where I teach people how
to make jewelry. It's a ton of fun and a great extra income. The
kind of jewelry I make is very different from what Luxe offers (I make
chain maille jewelry), but they let me sell my own stuff right along
side theirs. The flexible hours (I make my own) are a perfect
complement to the odd show hours I often work.
Anyway, check out the website (www.luxejewels.com) -- you might find
that it works as a great supplemental income for you, too, in between
auditions/rehearsals/shows. On the off chance any of you out there
decide to do what I do with Luxe, make sure you use my Consultant ID
(BeachBumCreations) as your upline referral!! And, of course, let me
know if I can answer any questions for you! I'd be glad to share.
Best,
Janine

Your photography equipment needs are minimal. You'll need a basic SLR
camera - film or digital. For additional control and future options,
the flash should be removeable. You'll also need lenses to cover the
standard range of portrait shooting distances, a couple zoom lenses
will work admirably.
Clearly, more camera gear is better, but this will handle getting you
started! Let your sales purchase anything else you might need.
You'll also need access to a computer and printer to create the
promotion materials. Throw in a few doodads from the local office
supply store and you're all set to go!
To have photo money start rolling in, there's no need to be Ansel
Adams. You just need to be competent. The mere fact that you've
considered starting a photography career - and you have, or you
wouldn't be reading this - says that you more than likely have all
the shooting skill necessary to generate lots of happy clients - and
to make plenty of money selling your photography.
Once launched, your photography, marketing skills and sales are going
to dramatically increase. Soon you'll be creating better and better
work as well as making more and more money. Maybe someday you WILL be
compared to Ansel Adams!
