A couple of "gotchas" we windows users have to watch
using HyperTerminal is making sure the file is being
sent one line at a time, with at least a 100
millisecond pause between each and also make sure a CR
(carriage return) is sent at the end of each line.
The bootloader should return a . (period) at the end
of each line of HEX showing that it was received ok.
If you don't get the period, then the bootloader did
not get it.

Give that a try.

Could not use minicom. Tried about a half dozen other terminal programs and even tried HyperTerm using Wine. Nothing. Finally came across gtkTERM. It...
