I just uploaded this file.
It is a small test program.
It takes the coordinates you enter and sends a message out the serial
port to a Garmin GPS.
I am trying to verify that the packet format is correct.
It works fine on my Etrex Summit.
This could allow adding waypoint plotting directly to any Garmin GPS
as I think all support the binary format.
I know mine, the Summit, does not support the NMEA waypoint upload.
So getting the binary working is a step forward.
To use:
Hook up your GPS to a serial port on your computer.
Enter this port number in the edit box in the program with the format
COM1
Use the default location or change it as needed and hit one of two
buttons.
Short or Long.
Hopefully the First button works on everyones system.
It is a shortcut to sending the data in an effort to keep the PIC
code small.
The longer method follows the specification in the Garmin
documentaion.
