Things to Remember...

Before you send out a message to the PBS Mailing list, here are a few things to remember as part of our Code of Conduct. They're not that hard to do and they'll really help the list remain meaningful to everyone in the long run.

1. Think before you send - you're about to send a message to large number of fellow bloggers. Make sure it's something you really want everyone to read about and something that people can truly appreciate.

2. Have discussions not IM chat sessions - the best thing about mailing lists is how you can get a lot of ideas running and get loads of people participating in a really good discussion. Capitalize on that and avoid engaging in one-on-one conversations better suited for IM or 5-word responses like "Cool" and "I agree".

3. It's about ideas and not people - don't engage in personal attacks on fellow bloggers. It's great to discuss ideas and have opposing opinions but don't take things personally and start mudslinging and engaging in flame wars over email.

4. Limit your advertising - everyone has the right to promote their blogs, it's true. However it doesn't really help your blog if people start ignoring your daily emails about every post you write. As per our poll results, we will only allow twice a week (once every 3/4 days) blog posts promotions.

5. Stay Clean - respect the bigwigs out there who help us blog like WordPress, Google and such. Let's not engage in active discussions about how to circumvent their terms of service or engage in click fraud (for monetized blogs).

6. Please attach a label (prefix) at the Subject line of your message (ex:"Blog Promotion","Newbie","Discussion","Inquiry",etc).
