Re: Is this group active?

Hi Pam,

Your name reversal problem is an Outlook problem, not a Plaxo
problem. I found this at http://support.plaxo.com by doing a search
in the search box for "names":

You get the following answer:

There's a possibility that when contacts are updated or created by
Plaxo Contacts, their first and last names could be "reversed."
However, this is actually not a problem with Plaxo Contacts, but a
problem with Outlook 2000/XP/2003.

The Contact Options setting in Outlook allows you to select the order
you would like names to be displayed. This is typically set to the
default setting of "First (Middle) Last". However, some users change
this to the value "Last First." Thus, if you enter "John Doe" in the
FullName field, it will be filed as John, Doe (where Outlook treats
John as the last name, and Doe as the first name).

To avoid this from happening, you need to change the Contact Options
setting in Outlook option back:

1. In Outlook, click TOOLS, then select OPTIONS.

2. In the Preferences tab, click the CONTACT OPTIONS button.

3. In the Contact Options window, change the option for "Select the
order you would like Outlook to use for new names to "First (Middle)
Last".

4. Click OK to go back to Outlook.

From this point forward, new contacts created by Plaxo or yourself
will be in the proper format. Unfortunately, any existing contact
that's already been created incorrectly will remain. You will need to
individually look for these and correct them manually.

Hope this helps.

reversed all of the first & last names of my contacts. I file in
Outlook as "last first", but when Plaxo brought them up to the
server, it took them as if they were "first last". Not that much of
a big deal until some of my contacts pop up as Plaxo members & then
get synced back into my Outlook in reverse order.
