Re: [plaxo] Re:Plaxo decay

If you didn't want to get any pulse updates or pulse related emails (for the most part), you can disable the emails that will link to pulse by going to Settings -> Emails and unchecking all the ones that are relevant to pulse. You can stay away from pulse by signing out while you are still looking at your address book or calendar. When you sign back in, you'll get the last page you were on before you signed out. Does that make sense? For example, if you were looking at your address book and decided to sign out of Plaxo without changing the page, when you signed in again, you will see your address book. I hope this helps ease your frustrations with Pulse.

One more voice added to the disappointment with what Plaxo has become. To be honest, I somewhat expected a decline in service of some sort when they were gobbled up by Comcast, but this is getting ridiculous. I joined Plaxo - as a Premium member - specifically because of the features that (a) enable me to synchronize multiple address book applications on multiple computers, and (b) receive automatic CONTACT INFORMATION updates from people I already know who are also members. I have invited a few people to join, but I'm not one to bombard everyone in my contact list. Likewise, I have added some stuff to Pulse, but I can happily do without it. (I use LinkedIn for business networking, and I'm too busy for a lot of social networking.) I liked Plaxo the way it was pre-Pulse. Now, I am searching for a replacement. If I can't find one, I guess I'll have to create my own database in OpenOffice and then quit from this. Unless, of course, Plaxo makes some changes.

Mind you, I don't have any beef with the existence of Pulse. I just don't want to be REQUIRED to use it, and I don't want Pulse to - as it has - detract from the core contact management functionality that I signed up for. I would be very happy with a contacts-only option that is restored back to the way it used to be.
