Deletion of some contacts in Plaxo On-line   Message List

I've just noticed that I suddenly now only have 43 contacts listed in my Plaxo on-line address book, whereas previously, it had around 120, and I have not deleted any of the on-line address book entries.  My Outlook and Outlook Express address books still each have around 120 contacts. "Synchronising" between either of the two address books and my Plaxo on-line address book does not seem to have any effect.  The Plaxo on-line address book does not get updated with the extra contacts, nor are either of my two personal address books reduced in the number of contacts they hold.  There seems to be something strange happening here.  Can anyone provide an explanation for this situation?
